My new favorite place! The decorations make this restaurant feel extra special and the food is remarkable and unique! I loved the catfish and the beignets but we also tried the chicken and waffles. This place has sweet and savory. The wait staff is amazing and the restaurant is spotless. I can't wait to bring my friends and family here

We have been coming to Huckleberry's for years and I am surprised that I hadn't done a Yelp review before. The seating for us is always prompt, the service solid, the menu variety enticing, though occasionally we need to ask to be seated away from a noisy child, otherwise the ambiance is enjoyable.

This is worse food I have ever tasted in my life burnt crab cakes no seasoning what so ever, not even the Tabasco could help this food. My 6 year old granddaughter can cook better than this food. Hospital food even has better taste then there food. Like gordon Ramsay would say what in hell tardation is this crap.

I had the Tom's Scramble - the chicken country fried steak was absolutely perfect: a delightful combination of crispy, golden-brown breading, tender & juicy chicken, with a rich, creamy gravy, resulting in a satisfying and comforting meal! The breading was crispy and slightly crunchy, the chicken was flavorful and juicy - it was the highlight of the whole dish. I will probably order the 1/2 lb Chicken Fried Steak next time around. The Mardi Gras Beignets were so good! The beignets were pillowy-soft, light and airy on the inside, with a crispy, golden-brown exterior, generously dusted with powdered sugar. The picture doesn't do them justice, the bottom center of the dish had vanilla cream filling and the cream was surrounded by strawberries, huckleberries, and peach fruit toppings. So good! The service was good. This was my first visit, but I noticed that the neighboring tables being filled were regular customers, the customers knew the servers by name and vice versa - really nice ambience.

It's breakfast at the bayou. I got the exact same thing at the other Modesto Huckleberry's, and I'll say the other one is better. That being said, this is still really good. I got the huckleberry lemonade and the andouille sausage platter with three scrambled eggs, a biscuit, and potatoes. Service was great and fast. They anticipated what I needed before I asked.

Found this restaurant while visiting Modesto. Serving portions are decent (big in my humble opinion). Food serve hot and taste good. Place was cozy and clean with nice staff. Service was fast. No line or wait to be seated when we went (around10am).

1st time. Large menu. Sorry no menu pics. After looking at a lot of great options I selected the california benedict. Omg! This is real benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached. The hollandaise was excellent. Perfect consistency. The fried green tomatoes were great. Never had them served with benedict. There was avocado as well. Toasted english muffin too. The country potatoes with bell pepper and onion were hot and crisp. Added 4 slices of bacon. Coffee too. Service was very good. Another plate was the country fried steak. Hope to try this place again. They have several locations.

Food and the desert was great! The service was amazing, I wish I could remember the name of the young waitress that served me. She sat me down even though they were about to close, and she was really nice. The ambiance was great! I felt I was taken into Disney book, I wish my kids were with me but unfortunately I was I northern cal for work, but I'm hoping they will open a location in Los Angeles. If you have a chance to visit this place, I highly recommend to try it! And by the way, I bought the boysenberry jam and it was delicious.

We took my Mother-in-Law to Huckleberry's for Mother's Day lunch. Christina was our server and she did an excellent job and was very friendly. They have very friendly people and okay food I feel like the some of the food could be great with more flavor but that's just my opinion. I had got like a club sandwich and the ham did not taste so good but the French toast and fries were good. I feel like u have to look for your waitress cause they woUld hardly come to our table and we would have to keep asking for refills so many time until we got it. read more

They must have changed their coffee because unlike other reviews, ours was great! And this is coming from a pair of Starbucks junkies. The prices were good, the portions were hearty, and it tasted yummy. The coffee was filled regularly, and the staff was friendly. I'm excited to find a breakfast place with a twist on the usual predictable fare. The catfish plate is AMAZING as well!!! read more

DELICIOUS!!! Came here for the first time for breakfast and it was great! Had the New Orleans platter and it came with eggs potatoes waffles topped with Huckleberry & whipped cream & ur choice of sausage ham or bacon! It was so good & fresh and came out fast! It was a busy Saturday morning and the waitress was on top of it. Always made sure we had refills & what we needed. Would def go back!!! read more

I use to go here often in the past. Stop going about 2 years ago; Garden Cafe is a mile from my house and Perko's off Carpenter about 3-4 miles. This morning the food not so hot. Country potatoes weren't grilled, more like baked and not very tasty, and not hot. The gravy tasted like they used too much flour in the roux so it tasted more like a flour gravy, and not that hot. The service has changed as well, not as welcoming. I live too close to some great options that serve hot and tasty food and great service to go back over toward Yosemite Blvd for a meal like today. read more

3 stars is A-ok. And that this restaurant is. The Service was excellent, the staff friendly and the food came out fast on a busy Saturday morning. Portions are generous and reasonable priced. All great attributes. Plenty of options on the menu and substitutions seemed like no problem. The only disappointment was the Beignets. They looked amazing, but were heavy and raw in the middle. Should be light and airy, but these felt like bricks. read more

First time at any Huckleberry's. I feel ashamed that I lived so close to such good food and I'm just now discovering it. Went for breakfast. Got a combo. Yes, the red potatoes are as awesome as people say. They gave that seasoning down to a science. And I got the beignets... at breakfast.... Not traditional square shaped, but still good. Comes with custard that I asked to be put on the side. Good service. Fun decor. We'll be back read more

If they spent as much time on the menu as they did the decor...maybe. But mostly their dishes range from bland to bad and the prices high. I had a Monte Cristo sandwich. It was soggy and flavorless. I actually didn't finish it. I always clean my plate so I'll have a clear day tomorrow! but I just couldn't! read more

The food here is good, as a southerner who relocated across country, it feels good to have a southern-ish meal. The service on the other hand was cool up until my food came. Then my waitress never came back to my table. I literally had to get up out of my seat and go to the front register to ask for a refill. Also when she did finally come back it was with the check and she didn't bring me my beignets. Like c'mon that's my whole reason for coming up here was for the beignets. So all in all, good food but the service is ass (no that's not a typo, the service is crappy) at best. read more

Well when you go to a place like this and you're having breakfast there is only so much to expect. When you go here that's exactly what you're going to get.. breakfast. Bottom-line it was your standard All-American breakfast with great service that was fast and efficient. Decor is absolutely fantastic. But the reality is it's a pretty nice restaurant in a really lousy location That having been said come by and give them a shot.. It's ok food, good service but it is just breakfast read more

My son and I were driving by and saw the restaurant sign and decided to stop and have breakfast. Was delightfully surprised to see their decor and decorations! We ordered breakfast to include pancakes. Wow! These pancakes just melted in our mouths. Their menu was diverse and we could see customers enjoying their meals. Definitely a place to go back to and recommend to try it again. Walking in was like entering Huckleberry's home! read more

Love this place!!! Came here with my friend and daughter and it's the cutest place and the food is super good..the hosts sat us down the wait was about 10 minutes and the server brought us our drinks right away...we ordered and the food didn't take long at all. Love the cajun twist on a diner style restaurant. Took the family here for the first time for Sunday Brunch and were quite satisfied with our experience. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was better than we expected. If you are thinking of going to Perkos, Mimi's, Denny's, or any other diner chain, give Huckleberry's a try. read more

For $7.99 I'm fully satisfied with my breakfast. Our waitress, Amber, was very nice too. The restaurant got my order mixed up and she offered 20% discount even though I was quite happy with the apology itself. My waffle was crunchy and very tasty. Omelet was top notch, not too salty the way I like it. We also got 50% discount coupon for our next visit (for the second entree). Coming back for sure :) read more

I don't spend much time in Modesto but since we were there this weekend, my hubby scoped this place out for breakfast! They only do breakfast and lunch! I ordered the burrito with a few tweaks, I did not care for the Cajun Creole sauce that came on the burrito so I am glad I got it on the side... and had hollandaise sauce for my burrito which I loved! The swamp tea was excellent according to my better half! I had coffee and it was delish as well, they have flavored creamers which are non dairy as an option so that was nice! My hubby enjoyed his omelette but said it could have been more flavorful... it was kind of bland but he took advantage of that Cajun Creole sauce and it was much improved his omelette. The pancakes were awesome! We had the Huckleberry syrup and it was different I liked it but it was kind of thick for our taste... my hubby agreed... but it was tasty. We would definitely go back especially since the service was so good! Everyone was very nice and very patient with us! read more

Always good food and service at Huckleberry's in Modesto! Their menu is so simple that everything is really good. The atmosphere and decorations make it a great experience from the moment you walk in. My favorite dish is the 'On the Border' skillet. I recommend trying Huckleberry's one morning for yourself. Just had breakfast here for the bazillionth time on Saturday 1/22/11. I ordered the chorizo and egg scramble (minus the cheese due to dairy intolerance), and it was delicious! I love their country reds! I have ordered toast and eggs, waffles with cherries and nuts, and French toast in previous visits and all have been wonderful! Not sure about lunch menu, since I always order breakfast. Also, service is typically good and the staff is super friendly. read more

Very clean. Great customer service. The environment is different from other breakfast or lunch spots in modesto. Unique theme! My mom had the big easy and when she said, I love this, it was so good , I responded with... well now we know this place is amazing because you finally like somewhere ! (She's so picky, no joke ). I had the chicken fried steak, as did my dad and we loved it. Very filling. I can only vouch for the breakfast but overall, one word YUM! read more

When my order was delivered, two of the drinks were iced, while one was served hot. I calmly and politely mentioned that all three were supposed to be iced coffees. At that point, I overheard an employee respond in the background with an attitude, stating that I had ordered the drink hot. I fully understand that mistakes can happen--orders can be entered incorrectly, and errors are part of any service environment. However, my concern lies with the dismissive attitude and the decision to challenge the customer's request in front of them. This interaction left a poor impression, and as a result, I do not plan to return to this establishment. I will instead continue supporting my usual coffee shops.

Today a friend and I went to Huckelberrys for breakfast. I ordered fried green tomatoes along with, the chicken fried steak and eggs with country potatoes, buiscuit and gravy. I was curious what was wrong with the fried green tomatoes, I had brought the uneaten delecacies home to eat later. I decided to disassemble one because, it just just was'nt right to me. The breading was thick and low and behold, the tomatoe was not green and was razor thin and dried out. I am so disappointed as before they were green a couple of years ago and delicious. Whoever you are ordering from, don't order those anymore. No one wants batter to eat and red razor thin tomatoes. the rest of the food was delicious. The waitress tho busy ,busy, busy was friendly and accommodating. Everthing except, the so called fried green tomatoes was fresh and hot. My wife and I had lunch at Huckleberry's after mass and we where very satisfied with their service. We where seated immediately, had our coffee and fleshed squeezed orange juice instantly. My glass was covered in some crayon/dishwashing soap crud. obviously a huge fan of the dollar tree, all of their "cajun creole" decorations are cheap, tacky poorly assembled vines and grapes.
