We stopped by Gasthaus zum Onkel Willi on our way into Cochem. We didnt stay at the guesthouse, but…read morerather just ate ate their restaurant.
We were starving and decided to stop in out of desperation, something which typically never leads to a good meal. But what a gem we found! Man, these guys are making some of the best wienerschnitzel I've ever had (and I've had quite a few in my day).
They had this dish called wienerschnitzel "gypsy style", which absolutely rocked. You get a sizzling hot schnitz served with a truly eloquent hot pepper sauce, fried potatoes, dumplings, and salad. It was an amazing meal and the portions, in typical German style, were gigantic.
Service was impeccable but it was a bit of a tough slog to communicate with their crew since they literally spoke zero English. No worries though, randomly pick something off the menu and enjoy!
