Hi Adrian, Thanks for your very cold note and your lack of being workable to reduce your late fees under these criminal events around The Hub at Columbia.  I am also highly offended by your inferences. I will make sure my review of The Hub reflects this poor experience with The Hub at Columbia.management and the fact that people can't trust the place and may get robbed there as we were. I've never had an account at Vero bank.  All other months will show that my payments were made from a Bank of America account. As I said we passed the username and password over to the criminal as they said all the right things that made them seem like they dealt with the hub office. My ex husband and I think the theft was an inside job at The Hub. We will tell the police accordingly and my daughter and I have a track record of many text exchanges with the criminal to prove our intent of good wishes to get the hub paid on time according to the lease and also proves our trust in a subleaser who seemed to have a very strange inside knowledge of how the hub operates to the point we have a record of transferring over May and April Hub rent over to the criminal. I understand The Hub Columbia went through an ownership change at the same time that this criminal activity took place and we find it such a very strange coincidence. Your unwillingness to work with us on a reduction of late fees under these criminal circumstances is very poor judgement and I will say so on online reviews. I am going on my second year at living at the Hub and it was a regret re signing here. I pay extra money to "feel safe" and park in the basement, yet service elevators are down every week at least and I have to find different methods of getting to my car which is sketchy and takes 15 minutes. Not to mention I pay for the gate doors to be closed in the basement yet they have been open all year! I have never felt safe there even living on a high up floor I have ran into multiple homeless people screaming at me in the hub elevators and in our trash room! Now halfway through the year the hub is now trying to fix the broken gate issue when they had all summer to do it. To "fix it" means they shut it down so are cars are locked in the basement ALL DAY and can not get out when we have jobs, school, etc. read more

Parent, Please do not let your child choose to live at The Hub, Columbia SC. I have a very long list of items that were never addressed or that were very poorly addressed during my child's stay. I dont think I ever wrote a 1 star review, but am doing so as a public service message. The Hub knows they are working with 18- 21 year olds that may not know what services they should be getting and they take advantage of this fact. 1 Most amenities like sauna hot tub or specials offered at the Hub, plain, don't work, or run out before you can even use them. The events are poorly planned and the personnel dont care. 2 Pool did not work for months at a time during my kids stay, and when it did there were no chairs. When the kids called to ask about it, HUB said, 'oh yes thats on our next order request''. I called and said, you know it's August and the kids need chairs. I could just go to Lowes and get chairs. Ya think kids want pool chairs in August and September when it's POOL season ugh! The HUB then "worked' on getting chairs and with in a FEW WEEKS chairs were supplied. 3 They chose to paint and resurface the pool in late April 2021, again exactly when the kids want to use that area. Very poor planning and no thought to the paying customers 3 Man sleeping next to my child's car. Garage elevator broken occasionally. 4 THIS is the most important one - The glass doors that open into the Marriott stay open for 14 seconds ( I timed and filmed it). When I reported this to the office they said doors have to stay open this long . I said, you know anyone can just walk right into a kids room and take a nap ( which a Man did in 2022). Again, nothing was done. 5 Window washers come without giving the kids notice to CLOSE their Blinds! This is just plain negligent on the HUB's part, not honoring a kid's privacy. This could take the HUB 5 seconds to send a text stating the days the window cleaner would be there and to shut your blinds for privacy, but no instead a man just shows up outside your window, and I have heard some privacy violating stories from my kid's friends. 6. Ongoing leak in my kid's room one year, AC out another year. These were issues that took months and months to be resolved. the leak was there for almost 2 years, and they couldn't do anything about it. 7 Wi Fi is spotty and sometimes just not working. 8 Kids lock broke one weekend and the maintenance decided to take off the lock and not replace it with anything. So for a few nights 4 kids slept without a lock on their apartment. These are the big issues I have many more from my student and her friends. None of the kids ever had anything good to say about THE HUB, COLUMBIA SC. read more

Overall I've enjoyed my time living at the Hub, but it's definitely not perfect. As many of the other reviews mention, do not expect your apartment to be even REMOTELY clean when you move in. They didn't even bother to sweep much less wipe anything down. It looked like it hadn't been touched since the last tenants had moved out. My roommate and I live in a two bedroom two bath apartment which was supposed to include an island. For some reason on move in day we noticed our room did not have an island, so we had no kitchen table of any kind and our main room was extremely empty. We talked to the office about it and they told us to "look on Facebook marketplace for one" even though every two bedroom apartment in the hub is supposed to include an island. Our washing machine broke within a week of moving in and after days of requesting maintenance workers to come fix it, they finally sent two guys to come check it out. While these guys were in our apartment, both my roommate and I had class so we had to leave. Although the repair men did not know this my boyfriend was still in my bedroom and could hear what they were talking about. They kept making comments about how easy it is to steal from residents and my boyfriend eventually went out there so that they would know they weren't alone. Doesn't make me feel the safest when individuals who are directly hired by the hub are talking about stealing while they're in my apartment. The parking situation is probably my least favorite part. The parking garage takes at least 15 minutes every time I come or go. People also FLY around the tight corners in the garage so expect to almost get into an accident at least once a day. Homeless people break into the garage all the time and cars and broken into and vandalized often. The security in the hub is minimal even though it's in the middle of downtown which makes it feel pretty unsafe. It's extremely easy for homeless people or random individuals to find a way in. Also if you plan to have guests over the parking situation is absolutely atrocious. You are not able to scan guests into the garage so their only options for parking are the spots available on Main Street which are occupied most of the time. Those are pretty much all of my negatives but I'll mention some things I DID like about the hub to finish my review. I love the view from our room (we're on the 16th floor and can see pretty much all of Columbia). The rooftop pool is nice and I really like the gym. They have complimentary treats for certain events from time to time. GREAT location right on Main Street. Lots of walkable restaurants and campus is close. Definitely a fun place to live overall but it has its flaws. read more

Is this the best place I've ever lived? No. Is it as bad as it is made out to be? Not really. I work in property management, not for the Hub though. Compared to my first year living here, 2021, it's definitely going a lot better. Management this year has definitely stepped their game up after all the issues we had last year. I truly believe there's a portion of residents who don't read their lease agreement in depth. So when something goes wrong, they aren't aware of what their responsibility is in the situation. The parents, who aren't even living here, get involved and it becomes a big issue over something simple. Is the hub right 100% of the time? No. But they are 98% of the time. It seems like a majority of these reviews have come from people who don't understand how property management works. Every time I've had an issue the hub has been able resolve it. Overall, it's really not a horrible place to live. It's located in the middle of downtown, close to almost all of the buildings for classes, it's in one of the safer areas of Columbia, and if you were smart enough to park with the Hub and not the city of Columbia then your car is parked in a locked garage. Could it be better? Yes. Is it the worst place to live as a college student in Columbia? Absolutely not. read more

Wish I could give zero stars! 1st of all, they have all these extra charges! They have Valet trash? At first, I thought it was a one time charge, but no they come pick up your trash. However, my daughter lived right across the trash chute and they still charge it. They charge for the chiller? Which, I still do not know what it is for? The air conditioner was out for 2 months. They changed ownership, so they cancelled out your automatic payment system and then reinstated it with out telling you , after I mailed in a check. I scrubbed the place clean, painted, cleaned the carpets and left it In better condition on move out than move in, and yet they still wanted to charge more than $1K for tenant "turnover" fees for turnover work that they certainly will not be doing based on how my daughter got it. I lived in the Hub at Columbia for a total of three months and absolutely hated it. The only two good things about this place is the pool and how modern it look in the apartment units. The customer service at the time of move in was way harder than it needed to be. The employee was rude and messed up the payment, making me pay $1,000 more than I needed to at the time. I was placed in a single room with no privacy, it was open to the Marriott pool and dining area without blackout curtains, the WIFI never worked and I'm constantly using my hotspot for school work and entertainment purpose, the AC didn't really work and there were two temperatures for shower water: cold and luke warm. Also, if I have any sort of food I threw away in my trash, it attracts bugs over night. I can't catch a break and I would never recommend this complex to another student or young adult. read more

The amenities rarely work. The wifi does not work and has not worked for a month. We did not have air conditioning for a month and our rooms were 78 degrees. Some rooms do not have windows which is 1. illegal in south carolina and 2. quite literally causes depression. I was promised "street parking" and came to find out that I have to drive up 12 flights every day to get to my parking spot. That is not even close to street parking. My roommates toilet does not work half the time. Our showers have very low water pressure so it doesn't even wash your hair fully. The sauna, steam room, and indoor hot tub we were promised do not work or we do not have access to them. The printers don't work half the time as well. The elevators break down every week as well. This place is a joke for $800 a month. -Our apartment was covered in spaghetti sauce when we moved in. Also, under our couch cushions have caked on food, hair, and gum. -We had roaches for months. When I submitted requests for an exterminator to be sent, the requests were deleted and ignored. -The pool, which is advertised as being on the roof, is actually on the roof of the parking garage. Also, it has failed pretty much every DHEC evaluation. -Our kitchen sink fell through 3 times after their sad attempts to glue it back in place. -The office staff is a bunch of college kids, bless their hearts. They have no clue about anything. -They tried to charge me $500 for a service animal after I presented them with my doctors note. -The elevators are always broken and covered in food, alcohol, and who knows what else. -They spend money on stupid stuff like free donuts and new pool furniture. -They charged us $5 for new filters? Which isn't that big of a deal, but our rent is $800? -Security is a joke. There were multiple robberies, homeless people walking around, arrests, and sexual assaults just in the year while I was there. -They towed me from the parking garage that I paid $80 a month to park in, and refused to refund me. -They don't take noise complaints seriously at all. living here has been pretty awful, the only thing that kept me sane was having great roommates, but the building itself, management, and maintenance is nothing short of a disaster. I don't know why it's so hard for this place to realize they're spending money on useless random things like free food for tenants or DJs for the pool deck, when really they should fix elevators, AC units, hire more cleaning staff, and a real exterminator. The amenities they boast about? The pool deck that looks so nice in photos? Yeah, it's been under maintenance for a long time - about a month long period in the spring semester when it started to get very sunny and people wanted to lay out. One day towards the end of the year there were people at the pool and apparently there were too many and the "infrastructure is not great" and there was a serious concern about the pool collapsing and caving into the parking deck, possibly resulting in death and serious injuries. It's now summer and i just went to use the pool today, only to find it locked off due to a LITERAL HEALTH ISSUE. Apparently the filtration system is not up to code (and likely has not been for years) so the government (!!!) had to shut down the pool. Literally 50% of the times i have gone up to try to lay by the pool it has been closed for one issue or another, and it's a bit concerning that it's all regarding health and safety. Inside the building? Despite my roommates and i working to keep our apartment clean, which we really do - we are four girls who do our dishes right away and keep it pretty tidy - we have had to call the maintenance over 3 times due to a big problem. Large bugs found crawling throughout the apartment, some in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living room - literally everywhere. One time they told us "yeah it's a problem on the whole floor we're gonna try our best to fix it soon" which is a very vague and insufficient answer. The building is essentially run by college students in the office, which sucks - they are nice people doing their best but this is an apartment building and really needs ADULTS to be handling this. Although to be honest the most incompetent people we have felt with have been the "adults", ironically. The AC was also broken for over 2 weeks, which was the worst thing in the whole world. When they fixed it? They tacked on a lot more to our utilities bill to "cover the charge", yet they seem to still have the $$ to fund "free donuts in the lobby!" And "glow party with a DJ and food!". It sucks that a building with so much potential and one students were so excited about has become a real shit hole. Pardon my French. Beyond excited to be moving out!! The corporate company needs to do a complete staff overhaul and a MAJOR renovation if they want to keep themselves in business. Yeah we're college kids you're selling to, but we are not stupid. Most of us attend the business school here at USC - we could probably teach this management a thing or two. read more

The first day we moved in our apartment was gross, didn't look clean at all. Multiple pieces of furniture were chipped, dirty and our counter looked like a bad try at a repair. The apartments are absolutely ridiculously priced, and in addition to that they're requiring every person to get their carpets professionally cleaned and present them with proof, this just shows that they don't clean their apartments and expect us to professionally clean them before we move out. I understand doing some cleaning before you move out but a professional carpet cleaning come on. Trust me just save your time and go find a house, these apartment complexes are robbing college students, average rent in a house is about $650 the hub charges $800+ for rooms like mine with 0 windows. Oh and if you were excited about the indoor golf machine I'd forget about that because I have never once seen it working. Also for some reason they made the showers 8 feet tall so you have to buy an extra long shower curtain and even once its on water still spills out because they got the design for it from a elementary school project and theres a ledge that lets water actively pour out onto your bathroom floor! I could go on forever about how terrible this place is but ill end on this, don't expect to ever go to bed before 12, 2 if its a weekend because you can hear someone whispering from the apartment next door or the hallway. If you get a room with a window theres gaps in the wall around where it connects with the window so you can talk to your friend a room over without even leaving your room because it sounds like they're in your room. read more

My son lived there in 2019 with 4 other students. Not only was the management at the Hub very lax whenever a concern was brought up, they withheld over $1000 of their security deposit. The apartment was cleaned when the students left, but each was charged $200 of their initial $250 security deposit. I am currently waiting to see a written statement on what the issue was. Amenities are incredibly unreliable, most of what they advertise either doesn't work or is out of service often. Elevators are slow and also break. WiFi was down for almost a WEEK! This is student housing?? Called the building manager and not only was she rude but also incredibly unhelpful. Touting how she "called the company personally" as if that's NOT her job. Random extra charges almost every month. Apartments look nice but have intense structural and cosmetic issues. In our first month of moving there we had to call maintenance almost twice a week. Half our outlets don't work, there's paint drips on the floor and the linoleum is warped at the edges of appliances. There was sticky residue left all over our marble countertops from the previous tenants stay. Our stove had crusted on food left on it. They've lost my mail multiple times, with about a third of it being returned to sender despite trying different addresses (parcel pending address as well as my actual unit number). Pool was closed for almost a month during September. The jumbotron next to it is inoperable. If you're a freshman or just looking to potentially live here DO NOT. The location and large rooms are the ONLY GOOD THINGS. Find somewhere else to live. read more

Lived at the hub my sophomore year of college. Management was awful. We had no ac for at least a month, and lots of other Maintenance issues. Grace, one of the staff, was one of the only helpful ones and if I could give her her own review she would get five stars. The hub parking situation is awful since you share with the hotel. The pool is nice but either the pool or hot tub is closed always. The gym is nice. I moved out today and it was a nightmare. They ran out of carts an hour into them being opened which is really not helpful at all in my opinion since were moving out in a parking garage. I also paid 200$ to have a no hassle move out fee that claimed we didn't have to fully clean the apartment, until after paying it did I get an email saying the living room isn't covered in it and it only covers the bathroom and bedroom. I wouldn't recommend this place I think there are a lot of better options closer to campus or that are newer. read more

I am a resident at the hub, and from first hand experience, this place is absolutely terrible and a joke. From the management to the actual facility itself, it is clear that nobody is putting forth any effort to improve this place. The wifi has been down for pretty much the entire year, and every time anyone calls and complains they tell us to contact the wifi provider ourself, making it OUR problem and not theirs. Two of the elevators were not operating for a whopping 6 months, not to mention that it took another month for them to fix them. They rented out the pool for a private fraternity event on the first hot day of the year, followed by the closing of the pool for another week due to damage from the event. Everything is our room is constantly breaking, and although maintenance workers arrive quickly, it is a pain to constantly have to be calling them. Instead of putting money into improving this place, they buy crappy food for the residents to try to distract them from the problems ensuing here. Both of the tanning beds are now completely broken and one of them has been broken for several weeks. People are constantly complaining about the parking garage, as there have been multiple times where unwanted visitors have been found roaming around. Management is also extremely sketchy and unqualified. Not to mention that if you look at the ratings for the Hub on THEIR website, it has five stars, yet on here, its one. Everything about this place is sketchy and it's just sitting on a lawsuit. DO NOT live here under ANY circumstances. Hi Sheena, I park in the basement garage and there has been numerous times where the elevator that takes you from the basement garage to the walkway on M doesn't work. I just got back home and went to try and use this elevator and it did not work, so I went to go use the service elevator, but the door at the end of the hallway to get to the service elevator was locked. I tried scanning my fob put it didn't work. So I tried the door in the room next to it and it was locked too but this time my fob did work, so I walked across that room all the way back to the service elevator only to find that the service elevator was shut off. I then had to walk to the other side of the basement and scan my fob to use the Marriot elevator just to get to M. Im sure how you can see how this is inconvenient but that is not why I am complaining as I am used to the inconvenience of living at the hub all year. If the elevator isn't going to work, it would be nice to leave the doors in the basement unlocked and not turn off the service elevators for residents to use, I don't know how anyone who wasn't extremely familiar with the basement would know how to get to their apartment from the place that they pay to park in. During the school year there has been many occasions where homeless people have gotten into the hub, gotten into my friends rooms, I could go on. It is summer and it is desolate, It is because of this I am extremely cautious and don't put myself in situations where I feel are unsafe (like the basement where there is no security and residents rarely ever go in), especially at night, but if I am forced to I would rather not be spending more time then need be trying to figure out how to get to my apartment. My daughters letter to management after coming home at 10:00pm by herself .... Safety is a big issue. Don't be mislead by advertising. There is NO security at night. An on call maintenance service at best but nothing on site. Cameras are not monitored so at best help after an issue. Lots of vagrants sneaking in. Broken elevators and no cell service in parking garage. No excuse for them not to have on site security for evening hours for the amount we pay and shame of them for advertising like they do. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! The Hub is absolute trash. Whenever it rains, water comes leaking in through the ceilings and windows and management does nothing but give you towels to wipe up the water. There are constantly maintenance issues, and don't even get me started about the ungodly amount of money we pay to live here. I wanted to live here because of the pool, but it's been closed "due to COVID" when every other apartment complex in Columbia has opened their pools. All of the amenities we were promised have been off limits because the staff is lazy and doesn't want to clean the things we use. And if you consider getting a pass to park in the parking garage, I would urge you to reconsider that too. Homeless people are always wandering around the building, some of which have broken into peoples apartments and have been found hiding out in peoples closets. The homeless people have also broken into a number of cars in the garage. There's no security and management is incredibly disorganized and they just simply don't care about residents. We pay over $800 a month for our son to live at the Hub in a 4 bedroom apartment. For this type of money you would expect the place to be top notch and repairs to be done in a timely manner. What we have found is that it take days/weeks/months to get things repaired. The giant TV that they boast about that is on the roof top hasn't worked the entire semester. We have called multiple times and they always say that "the part has been ordered." The screen on his window has been missing for months. This week the air conditioning on his floor was broken for a week before it was fixed. They need a full-time experienced property manager to oversee these things instead of a young college-aged person. read more

Elevators always smell awful and elevators in the parking garage barely ever work. My car has been broken into in the parking garage. WiFi never works. My daughter moved out in August. I never received her deposit back. Five months later I got an email stating I had two days to pay the last bill , it needed fresh paint so we wouldn't be getting a deposit back. I received the email in December stating I had two days to pay or it would be turned over to a collection agency. When i went to the portal to pay the money I didn't owe. It said my account was inactive. The student who I was dealing with called corporate, they fixed portal so I could pay the last bill I didn't owe. I strongly recommend against leasing with this student apt. The facilities look good on paper, but they are simply advertising hooks to get you in. Quite often, elevators don't work or the internet is spotty. Further, security is non-existent. My daughter's roommate's car was stolen out of the parking facility the Hub shares with the city. However, the final indignity is when you leave. I get that when you pay your deposit, you are never going to see that money again; that's just how these facilities operate. But to turn around and change additional money for regular vacating maintenance is ridiculous. To paint the apartment, my daughter and her roommates were charged almost $1200. For an apartment! How convenient that is what they had in for their deposit plus $200. They then charged for carpet cleaning (standard maintenance) and the final electric bill. In the end, they were bill for an additional $100. Needless to say, unless you are fine with throwing away money on a substandard apartment, I would NOT recommend The Hub and consider it a scam. read more

The Hub at Columbia is an ideal place to live, when maintained and when management is on top of day to day issues. Sadly, this is commonly not the case. The property manager for the facility is a college-aged under qualified employee that lacks experience and as a result, reflects on the timelines of repairs and problem fixes. You will often find staff using the amenities (such as playing pool) rather than fixing the many issues that never seem to be addressed. Rarely will all of the elevators be working which leads to 5-10 minute delays to leave your floor. The main issue with the hub is that tenants do not receive what is advertised for. Not to mention parking is 50$ a month which gives you a spot on the 5th floor of the garage or HIGHER. The garage gives little protection as my tires have been slashed twice in my two years. The excitement of living at the hub lasts about a month before all of the issues start to build and frustration sets in which is later magnified by the staffs' inability to fix issues. This review could go on and on about the issues ranging from the time the hub lacked AC for over a week resulting in the apartment being over 80 degrees to the countless times I have either missed or been late to class because of the frequent backups in the garage and elevators. While the apartment layout is modern and nice, know that you will be overcharged at the end and will have a little to no chance of getting your security deposit back even if you meet all of the requirements set by the hub to receive a full deposit. While I wish I could write a positive review for the Hub as it is ideally the best apartment complex in Columbia with all of it's amenities, I strongly advise you to stay away, save your overspent money, and receive full value on your lease signing elsewhere. read more

I honestly wish I could give this place less than one star. Do not live here unless you want every package you've ordered to be lost and every amenity to be broken. Maintenance takes days to help with anything. On move in day, our apartment hadn't even been cleaned and half of the blinds were broken. Utilities are ridiculously high even with everything unplugged and turned off. Service is terrible and it's probably the most poorly run business in Columbia. They charge for items not even in apartment like common light bulbs. The staff is rude on the phone and I asked for a manager to call me back which never happened. The elevators are constantly broken, the security is a joke and the internet is spotty. Be aware of this place, you will be very disappointed. read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because there is no negative ratings choice. The hub is literally horrifying and not worth 1/10 of what you have to pay. They increase their prices all the time and sneak charges to you. Not to mention it's absolutely disgusting. A full week went by before the vomit in the hallway was cleaned up. Not to mention there is always unidentifiable liquids in the elevator along with human excretions(someone always hocks loogies on the door). It's loud all of the time and run by college students that have no idea what they're doing. I paid for a parking spot and got towed.... FROM MY SPOT, because they double booked the spot. They were going to make me pay the $200 to get my car back until I stood my ground. Then one of the staff wanted me to just take cash he took out to go and get my car which was sketchy as all Hell. They wanted me to move my parking spot which I was booked for first. I told them no way in Hell! It took me and several family members to finally break them down into letting me keep my spot. Also none of the staff wanted to take credit for towing my car. It wasn't until weeks later that some weasel offhandedly admitted to it. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to live here! I cannot wait to move out and be free of this Hell hole. You are better off living under a bridge instead of this place, it would probably be cleaner too! read more

I wish there were negative stars! I am a parent of a tenant. This place is horrible. I have paid an average of $920/month with all of the extra fees tacked on. If you are more than 3 days late, they charge obnoxious late fees that accrue is you have left 1 cent unpaid. Like I am talking a 55.00 charge then 10/day unlimited. So if you have any balance at all, they charge you 55.00 plus 10/day. Then when you go to pay your rent they apply it to these ridiculous late fees and then tell you that your rent is late! The office manager is unhelpful, unfriendly and unprofessional. If you have any alternative lodging options, take it! Total rip off. My advice is to run! read more

Don't be fooled by the glamour and all the extras. We have been nothing but disappointed in The Hub. We highly recommend not to rent these apartments! All along they charge fees for every little thing including changing out an air filter! Their communication is poor unless they are billing you for something. Also roaches were a problem, trash was never removed on the weekends and the AC went down for an extended period of time. Most recently they kept our security deposits in order to repaint the rooms when they were left in great shape. Too many other items to list, glad we are done with this place. read more

Stay away from this place. My son lived there for 2 years while a student at USC. Although it's a nice building and setup well for students, it's very poorly managed. We had a dispute on move out charges on his first lease and, after a lot of back and forth, were led to believe it was resolved. Two years later, without any further notice form the Hub, we were subjected to repeated calls from the Hub's aggressive and obnoxious collection agency. The Hub would not respond to any of my calls, emails or certified letters, nor would it communicate with the collection agency. I finally had to file a complaint with the CFPB get the issue resolved. It's a shame that what appears to be a good concept is so poorly run. Look for other options. read more

My daughter has been a resident for 2 years and she and her roommates have had several maintenance issues to deal with. However, the worst issue that we have dealt with is safety. The rooftop pool often has visitors that do not live in the building. They lurk about the parking lot waiting for residents to enter the pool deck. Many of these people are in the late twenties and even thirties. Not a safe environment for young college students. Absolutely no security. When I approached management, the response was that the kids should not allow strangers to enter. Talk about placing young adults in harms way. My daughter wanted to move out early due to the lack of security, especially over the summer months. Management would not budge on the lease agreement at all even though the lease clearly states that visitors are to be with a resident and wear a wrist band (this did not happen). To make matters worse, there have been incidents where older, disheveled adults have been wondering the hallways and common spaces. Absolutely unacceptable for student housing. I am more than disappointed with the response, or lack there of, from management. Overall, not a great or safe option. read more

It's Memorial Day and the outdoor pool is closed because management didn't fix a problem with the lock that has been broken for months resulting in a DHEC violation--are you kidding me??! Management generally is slow to make repairs, and the amenities that justify the high rent prices are typically broken. No point in spending money to live here without use of the facilities...the apartments themselves may look nice and modern, but were obviously made cheaply and are not good quality. During spring break, all the tanning beds and the indoor spa were broken for at least a month. My floor always smells like garbage--literally--because they don't regularly clean the carpets and hallways. A dunkin donuts beverage that was spilled by the elevators has been sitting there all weekend. read more

THIS PLACE STINKS You would think that an apartment that costs $800 a month would come with basic features such as air conditioning and working window shades, but sadly at the Hub this is not the case. Over the week that USC was on spring break, management turned off the air conditioning leaving tenants in boiling hot apartments, and this isn't the only time the a/c has failed. My roommates and I were forced to live in 80+ degree heat in the fall of 2017 because of a month-long repair to the air conditioning system. Also, the amenities this place boasts about are seldom working/available. It is March 28 and the pool is yet to open. Management first claimed that they couldn't fill the pool due to concerns it would FREEZE in 40 weather. Now they say that it is under "renovation", however there are never any crews working at the pool. In addition, the golf simulator hasn't been working since I moved in last August (7 months ago). I pay $800 a month to live in an $800 apartment, not a mismanaged highrise that hasn't had all its elevators working for over half the time I've lived here. It's astonishing the lack of care management puts into their job. This place may look tempting, but you should stay away. read more

If you value your money and want to live in a decent place, don't rent here. Management is unprofessional, unqualified, and unhelpful. The office is run by a bunch of college kids who really don't know what they're doing and the property manager is almost completely unavailable. Rent is outrageous and they nickel and dime you for everything. Utilities are almost always $120 per apartment, even if you're never there like I was, which is more than double the utilities in my parents' 2000 sq ft house. You better hope nothing breaks in your apartment because not only will it take months to fix but you'll most likely end up with a fee for it. Make sure you document the state of the apartment consistently because on moveout they will slap you with some pretty hefty fees for anything from painting to changing light fixtures. If you're moving in, don't expect a nice new, clean apartment. The summer staff can't seem to find the time to clean or paint. The decently priced bedrooms are so small they barely fit a bed and the furniture is minimalist at best. The tenants are mostly rude loud college kids who consistently damage or defecate in public areas of the building, which never get fixed or cleaned properly anyway. The elevators never work and the ones that do will drop you a floor or two at some point in your stay. Don't let those guards at the front desk fool you: security is slack at best. Not only will you have people trying to break into your room on a regular basis, but you'll most likely see a homeless person or two wandering around in the private parking garage and the indoor common areas. Bottom line is, they tout fancy amenities and spacious apartments, but save yourself $900/month and don't live here. It's a scam and it's not worth the proximity to campus. read more
