Needed a trim this week. After my last visit to my old barber's,I think it was time to look for a…read morenew one. It just so happend that I got picked up by a mate of mine who was going to go get a trim himself. Thought why not. The place was ok looking. Not somewhere I would have picked myself. There was a man and a lady cutting hair. The guy was happy go lucky type of guy. The lady was quiet and diddnt talk much. My mate went in the chair first considering this was his every week barber's. He took ages. The barber took ages, and my mate is fussy. The two of them were chatting for England. I then whent outside to read the paper outside on little table and chairs the shop have put outside. Nice atmosphere being in the middle of Hove. The barber finally fineshed, and I must say it was a good trim. Now my turn. Asked Wat i wanted , and then talked my ears of with funny banter. I'm a beard guy. So my beard is my world at the moment, as I have a bold head. So I said I like my beard sharp looking. As in the lines on each side are equal, the length just right etcetera. He did a blinding job. Spot on. So he's good. I noticed that all types with all types of diffrent kinda hair. Young and old. Wasn't busy, but had a steady flow people. I have left that barber's with my intention of going back. I think it is now my new barber's. Yep I'm going back. If your ever in the area , and need a hair cut. This place ticks most of the boxes. O yea and for some reason they had a massive picture of Tony Montana from out the movie scar face. It made me chuckle...

I bought a gift voucher entitling my other half to a wet shave as a birthday treat - brownie points and a well-groomed bloke in one fell swoop. Offering the whole knife grinding, wet shaving, classic cutting shebang, it's the attention to the traditional barber experience that really sets this place apart. Like a male-grooming TARDIS, the inside reveals a surprisingly spacious interior and a step-back in time with the lovingly restored fittings reclaimed from a 1920s Chicago barbershop. With just two chairs (authentic of course) and the owner on hand, you are treated to twenty-five years of experience and a history lesson thrown in for good measure. Forty-five minutes later my partner emerged smooth and sweet-smelling with what he described as the closest and most enjoyable shave of his life, complete with head massage and moisturising treatment. I'd recommend booking an appointment. As a one-man operation, the personal touch comes at the expense of a guaranteed drop-in spruce up. Also, the authentic experience comes at a price with the traditional wet shave coming in at £28. I would definitely recommend to any hirsute gents looking for an indulgent groom, but perhaps pop into your local barbers for your regular trim.

I couldn't be more happy with the style. Going from long hair to short hair is a drastic change, but the barbers here are skillful and efficient. Not only did they provide an amazing cut, but they were open and honest about advising what styles would best fit my head's shape. They recommended products for my specific hair type and I walked away completely satisfied. Do yourself a favor and step back into the 1920's with these hand-crafted stylists. They even touched up my mustache masterfully.

Stop in today and get your hair cut with Simon, Denise, James or Tania (who cut my hair). I would highly recommend them. They were not there this time so a friendly gentleman greeted me and I said I usually get a little top up for £2, its always been 2 pounds as that was what I was quoted the first time I ever went in. So after agreeing that £2 was fine I sat down and was given my usual nice speedy cut. I got out the chair and we confirmed once more that £2 was perfect... A lady with short brown mousy coloured hair popped her head round the corner and barked at me £8.50... I was shocked and said sorry what? She started going on about how her staff have never done a hair cut for £2 and never will - this is complete rubbish I have had my hair done about 5 times there previously. She didn't believe me and was basically saying I was a liar. The man who did my hair was being polite and apologising and she was saying as if I had done something awful "don't apologise to her", multiple times? What on earth had I done wrong in this situation, if there was some kind of confusion about price with your staff then take it out on them not me, the paying customer? I would have paid and left happy if she had apologised etc. I was in complete shock as I was being basically commanded to go and get cash out as I didn't have enough as I only had £2 - because thats what it normally is. I would have headed straight to work and not gone back to pay but I was in a rush and didn't want anyone causing problems at my new place of work that I revealed whilst getting my hair cut. The way I was spoken to was so unacceptable like I was some lying little thief? This lady also claims to be the owner of the barbers which I now know is incorrect, so really who's the liar in this situation? Shocking. I want my money back.
