This review will be mostly for the Dental school and my time here lol Ive been going to the schools dental clinic for sometime now. There was a time when I needed an emergency procedure and my dentist wasnt accommodating and neither where were my oop expenses. #sad My nerves were put at eased once I was there. Place is top notch. Dental students were on their A game and gave me the best care then the dentist I had when I had another insurance carrier is old and could probably use a refresher course on how to be a better dentist. Theres procedures to be followed if you want to be seen. I was lucky to be seen even if it was later in the afternoon. Doctors are always looking over the students shoulders to make sure the work is done right. They really do an amazing job in keeping my choppers pearly white. Its painful but hey tcb right?! On to the campus, lots of rich history here, students, faculty and staff are very friendly and welcoming. I needed to take a few classes before I started my law school journey. The professors and faculty are very welcoming and truly want to see you succeed!! Most of all GRADUATE!! The campus is well light and I feel safe at night. Campus life always have something cool going on!! However, the campus itself seems to beginning to show its age, some classrooms and buildings are in need of repairs and renovations. I hope they can fix it up. HU!! You know!!

Ahhhh, HU....my beloved alma mater. I officially felt "old(er)" for the first time in my life escorting my 19 year old on a walking tour of this fine institution. I even learned some history along the way on the tour I wasn't aquainted with. The hour long tour was conducted by student ambassadors in a 1to1 fashion. Our tour guide was a junior double major from Louisiana and cute as a li'l button. The tour itself was very nice and followed up by another hour long presentation by the Assistant Dean of admissions - Ms McCants. Part of the presentation included a video showing "Howard West", a collaborative with Google and engineering students. Very impressive! 20,000 applications....7,000 admitted during the last academic year. Yearly tuition $27k + another $14k roughly in room/board and incidentals and it's clear to anyone observing this school is no joke. Never has been. I'm sure it was half that cost when I graduated in the 90s....yikes. I was lucky enough to have come here after 3 years in the military, so that covered much of the expense, but clearly, it's quite a financial consideration for most families. Glad to see they've modernized a bit with security call boxes, apps for this and that; new construction...new housing options, etc, and some other stuff but basically the campus remains as I remembered it as that School of Business major way back when. It felt like reconnecting with an old friend and I was glad to experience it with my daughter. She told them I was an alum which made me bashful cuz I wasn't gonna mention it lol. The whole vibe and experience? Good stuff. Real. Good. Stuff. HHHH UUUUU!!! Youuuuuuu knowwwww!!!

Proud bison legacy, dating back 100 yrs in my family. My Great-grandparents met there and the rest is history! I stand on their shoulders as well as other family members & notable Alumi: Thurgood Marshall; as well as Ralph Bunche, David Dinkins, Vernon Jordan, Elijah Cummings, Kamal's Harris, Marian Anderson, Jessye Norman, Donny Hathaway, Roberta Flack; Zora Neal Hurston, Toni Morrison, Dr. Francis Cress Welsing, Amari Baraka, Bobby Seale, Stokley Charmichale, Te-nahesi Coates, Phylicia Rashaad, Debbie Allen, Chadwick Bosman, Jelani Cobb, RAS Baraka, Anthony Anderson, Haile Gerimia, Taraji Henson, Lance Gross, Sean Combs, Marlon Wayans. etc. the list goes on and on in every discipline & sector! Trust and know their is a reason for this. They were encouraged, developed and enriched on these hallowed grounds. HU was one of the best choices I ever made in my life. Howard has some of the best professors in Academia, I am fortunate to have taken classes with Dr. Sulyman Nyang; Actor: Al Freeman, Dr. Patton, Dr. Debiye Thomas and others who are well respected in their disciplines. I've formed friendships and partnerships to last a lifetime, a network that is unmatched and a foundation on which to flourish. I am proud to call Howard U. AKA: The Mecca, HOME I look fwd to seeing my Bison family at our Legendary Homecomings! What you are poured into with here will never leave you!

Henson, Carl Anthony Payne II, Phylicia Rashad, Roxie Roker, Lance Gross, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Isaiah Washington, Marlon Wayans, Karen Malina White, Amiri Baraka... What do all of these people have in common? They are some of the most notable to study at the illustrious Howard University... just to name a few. The list goes on and on. Google a handful of them and you will easily see that HU plays not with excellence. Howard University was founded by Oliver O. Howard, Civil War hero and Commissioner of the Freedman's Bureau, as an enactment by Congress in 1867 during Reconstruction. As officially written, it was to be "a University for the education of youth in the liberal arts and sciences." Black youth to be exact. Commonly referred to now as the "Mecca" of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), Howard stands firm on an amazingly rich history and continues in its commitment to produce "leaders for America and the global community." It is one of two schools in the U.S. with an annual congressional appropriation, the other being Gallaudet. Howard is also defined as a Research University with High Research Activity by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and currently ranks #115 on the list of best National Universities by the U.S. News & World Report. Considering that there are over 4800 colleges and universities in the U.S., that would put Howard roughly in the 97th percentile. Not bad at all. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Do we have the best administration or facilities? No, definitely not. That is unless you're referring to the Health Sciences Library, which is fantastic. Are we one of the wealthiest schools with a rotund endowment and efficient operating budget? Nope, incorrect. Do we boast a mighty list of triumphant and nationally ranked sports teams? Hell to the naw. So what then makes HU so great, you ask? It's Howard flippin' University. As a soon-to-be two-time Alumnus of Howard, I can say that I wouldn't have become the woman I am today had I gone to any other school. I honestly couldn't imagine having been happier anywhere else. It definitely hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies, but HU was the epitome of what I desired in a college (at least for undergrad). If there is one reason students come here, it's for the EXPERIENCE. By far one of the most unique in the country. Just ask any Howardite and he/she will likely agree. Although the overwhelming majority are of African descent, HU students represent some the most culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds in the country. Hipsters, jocks, southern bells, rockers, rappers, savants, artists, dancers, aristocrats, musicians, entrepreneurs, the disadvantaged - you name it, we've got it. Attempt to naively stereotype us based on the fact that we are black, and you will have made a very grave mistake. Howard Bison are intelligent, opinionated, fashionable, and dedicated. We are committed to service and will go so far as being threatened by the Secret Service to stand firm in what we believe. Our intellectual conversations and debates far exceed the confines of the classroom, often times into places like the Punch Out, the Cafe, the dorms, and the Yard. Our homecoming is the bombDOTcom, and the Showtime Marching Band gives everyone a reason to celebrate. We are the birthplace of five of the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities, and we operate a middle school dedicated to educating DC youth in the sciences and mathematics. Not to mention our professors are some of the most passionate you will ever encounter. Howard is by no means perfect and definitely not for everyone. But it is a prestigious university rooted in a great legacy that we will proudly uphold. It was here that I saw both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama deliver speeches on the same stage in Cramton Auditorium. Here that I learned how incorporate a healthy sense of black cultural pride while not losing sight of my identity as an American and a human being above that. Here that I learned what it meant to truly persevere to victory. "As we sail life's rugged sea, O Howard, we'll sing of thee."

The tour was great, she answered our questions and kept us engaged. The admissions counselor gave us important info for the application process and was friendly. The buildings are very old and definitely need some renovation. The door rooms have the beds directly next to one another which I found odd and uncomfortable. Because the desk are fixed to the walls, there isn't any room for moving furniture around. The dining hall appeared to be from the early 1900's, from the tables to the light fixtures. I understand it's an older school, but most universities are old. If they are going go take money, some of it needs to be reallocated to fixing the school. The lobby of the dorm was like something out of a horror film. The only weird thing here was the security officer... when we walked in, I told him I and my two mentees were there for a tour. He stared at us and said " do you know where to go," I told him no and asked if he could point us to the admissions office, which he did. As we were walking away he asked "all yall here for a tour?" and I said "yes"... he continued to stare.. didn't say anything else and just looked away. It seemed like he had some sort of delayed reaction. As we left the tour, he looked at us and asked "are yall done with the tour".. we confirmed and he just continued to stare at us oddly. It was almost like he had never heard of a tour before. Our guide was great, but I didn't get an awesome first impression, but I want to leave the choice to my mentee with the time comes.

They treat you with much attention when applying but once you start attending they do not care about you anymore. Thank God I comminuted because I cannot imagine leaving here, but I keep running into problems anyways because there is only 3 small parking lots in this place and if you are trying to make it to class on time forget about it because the parking lot right next to the buildings is always packed free 9:30. Then you have to park all the way in the back which sometimes fills up as well! Then you have to park at the furthest ONE which also fills up as well so where tf am I supposed to park? Yet they got like 4 tennis courts that can easily become more parking or just make a garage like hello?! I also heard someone in the dorms had their TV AND CLOTHES STOLEN while they were out of town because the locks on the dorm doors can literally be opened with a credit card. So what I have heard when students tell me they get locked out. Some but not all professors are not professional don't go to this school they curse and say the f word all the time. Security don't even pay attention who walks in and out this building fr, the school also look nice on the outside but the main hall is needs to be renevated period . I really don't care if you are trying to keep up with the 1900's look the floors are creaking, it's hot asf in there. Please don't come to its school the only parks is that they give you a lot of FA so if you can make a sacrifice to for that then be my guest.

Although it may be without typical dorm room hjinks, the Wolpe Center provides Cornell students with a sense of community in Washington DC, where deeps bonds are fostered and intellectual evolution is cultivated. Sometimes when I think back to the room size, I can't believe I lived comfortably with a roommate. Don't get me wrong. As far as dorm rooms are concerned, they are pretty nice. Each room has a private full bath, small kitchen and bunked beds. There are also some common areas that residents can go to study with a plethora of cafes and restaurants nearby to seek additional refuge if need be. I always felt as though the building was fairly secure and everyone knows one another because you're part of the same, small program. Additionally, it can't get much better then rolling out of bed to head downstairs for a three hour lecture. I also remember that all of the staff, mentors and professors were truly engaged, approachable and down-to-earth, which was extremely helpful as we embarked on a major research project throughout the semester. Additionally, the Wolpe Center also doubles as the site of the Cornell Club of Washington. While I'm not terribly involved, I have volunteered in the past with CAAN (Cornell Alumni Admission Network) to help meet and interview local candidate that are currently going through the application process. I remember when I was applying, it was really nice to meet with a local person to get a sense of their experiences. Overall, the Cornell Center and community in Washington DC is extremely warm and professional. If you're ever searching for Cornell resources in Washington, this would be the place to go.

The neighborhood is really nice, plenty of restaurants and cafes around--I'd recommend checking out the reviews online beforehand to avoid disappointment. Definitely a nice/safe business area of D.C. The triples in this place are nice as well. I only saw one but it had a pretty big living room and bigger kitchen with a full sized oven. Only down-side is that three beds (a bunk bed and a single bed) are squeezed into a fairly small room. Looks somewhat uncomfortable. The studios also have regular twin bunk beds( I believe you can request an extra long twin if you need it), which are all detachable if you don't want to climb up to the top bunk. Overall the rooms are pretty spacious and nice. Very happy with my experience at the center. I'd definitely recommend the Cornell in Washington Program!

Commonly known as 'BU or Boston U', it's main campus is part of 2 urban campuses collectively. BU is positioned along the Charles River, overlapping in the Fenway, Kenmore & Allston communities. After Ubering to breakfast, I decided to walk back to my WomanBaby's dorm. I found myself on the populated Charles River Bike Path & got to see Harvard & MIT along the way. It's a 23 mile paved stretch with the bridges serving as mileage trackers. A few tidbits; Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. & Andy Cohen attended BU, one of Boston's largest employers, has their own Medical Campus located in Boston's South End neighborhood, shout out to DC-BU has internship, journalism and management programs housed on Massachusetts Avenue in Dupont Circle, Men's Hockey is very popular as 5-Time National Champs & how fitting that BU's mascot is a Terrier, amusing. I wanted to take a peak to where my WomanBaby would be getting schooled this Fall in Public Health. The Talbot Building looks like a medieval mini mansion with a perfectly manicured landscape that is located on BU's Medical Campus. There is so much that BU offers, not only as a top ranked educational institution, yet an amazing social melting pot for their students. Footsteps from the educational & housing buildings offers a mass of diverse exposure & encounters connected with the historic New England charm. The never ending of restaurants, arts & entertainment, sports, shopping both upscale/outlet malls, trolley/subway rides & the extensive nightlight...simply casually exhilarating. I look forward to my many returns to BU & it's city.
