I am one of those diners, shoppers, and planners that likes things "on the side". Don't ask me why;…read moreit just works for me. As to Country Charm, they were able to put me in contact with an awesome backwoods artisan who does custom tiles. Who is this "on the side" tile maker, painter, and broker, you ask? Out of the town of Sayner, is Maanum Custom Art Tiles. I was told she normally does small craft events, and Country Charm not only has been able to place orders with her easily, but they also have (and can request) samples of her custom tiles, color work, and subject matter. She hand glazes Italian or Spanish tile and creates lovely art work that shows off the flora, fauna, and furry friends of the Arbor Vitae area. I chose a set of "house numbers" that I thought would be perfect. I also was really happy to find a hand painted tile mural (small in terms of murals) to go in one of the little bathrooms. Her work is charming, it is amazingly affordable, and the Country Charm folks were very accommodating in terms of working around my schedule, shipping needs, and in obtaining samples I thought I would choose. Tiles can be 6x6, 4x6, or 3x6 and if you ask me, the clever artisan whose claim to fame is the ability to sketch a wonderful picture of Smokey the Bear, in my opinion, Jeanne Maanum should quite her day job, she is that talented. And thanks Ann at Country Charm for making it so easy for me!
