I so wish I wasn't having this experience right now. After 3 phone calls from my mother to the service department and an $800 service for gas fumes, she had to return the car again. When she returned it, she was told that she never mentioned the gas fumes and that they had serviced everything else on the car. This is a blatant lie. When she picked her car up from the service team on Friday July 27th, she was told they couldn't find the source of the gas leak and she should "thoroughly wipe her gas cap." Thankfully, she brought it back Monday on her lunch break, where she left it. No one bothered to call her, so at 4 pm she was dropped off after work. The service manager informed her if she kept driving her car it would explode, as he had just dropped the gas tank 20 minutes prior (4 hours after having the car there). They sent a woman home with a car pouring gasoline out over exhaust pipes, claimed she had never reported the gas smell, and refused to negotiate the price, a payment plan, or accept responsibility for the bad work they had done and their disregard for her safety. They had every opportunity to show a customer of 10 years, who purchased her vehicle from Howard Bentley new and service with only their team, that they would rectify their reckless negligence. Instead, they stood stone cold to an elderly woman sobbing as they took the last of her savings. Needless to say, we will be purchasing our next vehicle from another dealer and filing a complaint with the BBB. I think there are good, honest service departments in Marshall county. C&R Automotive and B's Express Lube have stellar reviews and show good service to every customer. This is just another example of sending a naive woman to a dealership under the expectation that a dealership can be trusted based on the name it represents. read more

When I asked the service advisor why it took three hours. It was because we didn't stay inside to wait for the car. If we would have stayed they would have done it quicker. To me that makes no sense. Why do I need to be worked in like a walk in when I did the appointment so it can be done in a reasonable time. All we had done was oil change, tire rotation and check fluids. My wife and I traveled from Huntsville AL to Howard Bentley in Albertville to test drive some late-model used GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. We test drove 4 and chose two we were interested in. I contacted the sales rep on the following Monday and told him which one we were interested in and asked if it would be possible to hold it until we returned to trade in my truck. I was told to send pictures of my truck, the VIN, and mileage and they would send me a trade-in offer and then I would pay a $500 deposit to hold it. I sent all the information on Tuesday except for the deposit and waited on the trade-in offer on Wednesday. When I contacted the sales rep late Wednesday morning I was told the used car manager was working on the numbers. I contacted the sales rep again in the afternoon and was then contacted by another sales rep asking for all the information I sent before. About 3:30 pm the initial sales rep contacted me and said the truck had been sold that morning. If that was the case, why didn't they tell me that then. I feel if I had not contacted them, they would have never contacted me back.. Very poor way to treat customers. I will not do business with Howard Bentley ever again because they are not honest and transparent with customers. read more

STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! Spoke to the dealership multiple times about a 2014 Highlander in their used car selection. I was given the "Autocheck" information (similar to Carfax). It showed the car had been in a wreck, a disabling car wreck. I asked about it and was told with no hesitation that someone had backed into them and the wheel and the front bumper needed to be replaced. The next day I called and spoke to the same person about the airbags being deployed and was told no that had not. Then the salesman changed the story to the door was replaced and the fender. I mentioned that the previous evening he said that it was the wheel and bumper, which was it could he get more information. He assured me he knew the owners well and that he would call and find out. In the meantime, I was able to purchase the accident report from the State of AL ($20 -WORTH IT) since the case number was on the AUTOCHECK report. Salesman calls back about 15 mins later, same story : backed into while not moving. Continued to assure me the wreck was no big deal , car looks brand new. Well, the accident report told a completely different story. The car was T-boned at a highway intersection. The car had damage to the front and whole passenger side. The car was towed away.Accident report reported the damage was major and disabling for both vehicles involved. Hate being lied to. During the entire week, I was only able to get anyone to return my calls twice. Each time I spoke with anyone, I was given the same story - that they were checking something - and it was the same 'something' every day during the entire week! On 2/24/21 I contacted Howard Bentley about purchasing a 2021 GMC 2500hd AT4 stock number mg806 ($79495). I was greeted by Hannah on the phone and I was forwarded to Julia in sales. We discussed the vehicle and my trade. I was asked to take detailed photos, provide the VIN number, vehicle information and all of my contact information which I did. Later that day I was forwarded a email with my trade value and the pricing structure. I had some questions about the pricing that I discussed the next morning with Julia on 2/25/21. It appeared there were a lot of missing details in which how they arrived at the price. I asked for total transparency and to break the numbers down. She called and we spoke multiple times working out these details and discussed delivering the vehicle. I then tell her about the trade difference another dealer had given me. I was clear I wanted to compare apples to apples. The other dealer (Laura GMC) had given me a similar price on the new vehicle I wanted to purchase as It was the exact same model and color choice. She told me they would match the trade offer Laura made me of $43,500 to get the deal finalized. I said OK lets talk about these other discounts. There was a $1000 finance discount that I didn't understand. She explained I must finance and use their banks in order to receive that discount. She got upset with me and made some rude comments whenever I asked additional questions as to why. I then spoke to a sales manager that was rude from the beginning and could care less about the sale. His final words were "use our bank or pay $1000 more" he paused then hung up. On 12/26/21 I was contacted by Hannah asking if she could help me in anyway to make this purchase. I explained in detail about what happened and she wanted to make it right. She explained the vehicle was still available to purchase and she was getting another salesperson & manager involved. They would call me within a few minutes to get this taken care of. I agreed for them to contact me to finalize the transaction and work out the smaller details. I didn't hear from anyone so I called her back around 30 minutes later. She answered and said well alot changed in 30 minutes and the vehicle is no longer available. We took a deposit on it and it's sold with zero remorse. If I wasn't 320 miles away I would personally visit this dealership and speak with the owners as their business practices are very shady. read more

I really really hate that I have to do this but if you are in the market for a vehicle.... STAY AWAY FROM HOWARD BENTLEY IN ALBERTVILLE!! The place is an absolute joke. Let me tell you my experience .... I traded my perfectly good Maxi for a Certified Pre-Owned GMC Acadia. The first week I had it, I called and complained about the transmission and even went up there to be told I had to make an appointment. I made countless appointments, took it up there numerous times, waited countless HOURS for them to repeatedly tell me that nothing was wrong. On one occasion, it was using/losing transmission fluid. I got there and it was 2.5 quarts low. I literally had 4 men standing around me as I pulled the dip stick from the engine to show them in the service Dept. They added fluids and ran a dye thru it and used a black light to try to find the leak. Found nothing they said but if I wanted to leave it I would have to handle my own rental car under my insurance. Yes true story!! After numerous trips there to be blown off and told nothing was wrong (might I add, it's roughly 45 mins from our home one way) I went to Devan Lowe and talked to the service department there. They took my car in and dropped the transmission to find the wave plate was in pieces. They provided me a rental car during this time as well bc my vehicle was still under warranty. After they got my vehicle repaired and back in my possession, I'm still having the same issues but more. The transmission isn't jerking as bad but it's still jerking. My vehicle also has no power at times like it doesn't want to go. After talks with my husband and our family, we have decided that it's best to get rid of this car due to all the issues and only 22k left on the warranty. Today, I took my vehicle back to Howard Bentley. I went and asked for the service records on this Certified Pre Owned vehicle that I purchased from them. The records include only two occasions of me complaining about the transmission with the comments "can't get to repeat" ... never anywhere in these records are where they added transmission fluid (might I add this was a week after it was up there for service), ran dye thru it and all (luckily I still have those papers from that visit). I then walked in the main area from the Service Dept and asked for my salesmen to find he has left. I ended up with another salesman. I handed him the records, explained the situation, told him I needed another vehicle and I would hope since they sold me a lemon that they would make it right. He went and spoke with his "Manager" and Came back out to tell me that they will appraise it as they would anything else and the Lemon Law only applied to the first owner and had to be reported in the first 12 months. After appraising my Certified Pre Owned Vehicle that I bought from them for $33,206.00 on May 19,2017 (not even 9 months ago) I got an offer for $17,500.00. All the issues and problems and that's what you get. My reply was "that's not going to cut it, y'all can't make this right?" And I get told "stuff depreciates". I wasn't offered anything extra, NOTHING at all for another dealership caring about a car HOWARD BENTLEY GMC SOLD ME as a CERTIFIED PRE OWNED VEHICLE but "stuff depreciates", not an oil change, tire rotation, NOTHING but "stuff depreciates" .... so if you are in the market to be ripped off and sold a lemon that they classify as a Certified Pre Owned vehicle, go visit Howard Bentley GMC Buick in Albertville, AL. They have some wonderful customer service, management, service team members and a fat bank account while you're stuck with a vehicle that records show has had issues since the first week bc "stuff depreciates" ... they will leave you hanging out to dry and not care one bit bc they have already been paid. Never again in my life will I step foot in that place. I have the records, all of them, to show there was and is problems. Please tell everyone you know so this doesn't happen to your friends or family and they don't get ripped off and end up in the same situation as we are.
