How can one complain about anything that is "free"? Well, I have always enjoyed reading the H P whenever I would have spare time and wanted to find any updates on food establishments and they would sometimes have some interesting stuff to read. My only complain is most of the boxes or stands are usually always out by the time I get to one, but it's free, I"m not complaining.

I am not a fan of this magazine, primarily because it does not appeal to me, but they insist on…read moresending it to me anyway and will not stop despite my requests. They used to be delivered via white fans, which would enter private subdivisions with signs prohibiting soliciting, handbills, etc., and then simply throw their magazines onto our lawns. This was highly agitating, and I'm glad they have stopped doing that. However, their solution now is to use carrier route saturation to have USPS simply put them in everyone's mailboxes. Again, it's better than my lawn, but still poses the problem that I don't want it, and am being told I don't have a choice. No, it's not too much trouble to throw away, but simply another thing I have to pick up and deal with. And it does take up space in my rather small mailbox and sometimes causes other mail pieces to fling out when I open the door. That said, its leadership team is friendly enough in response to my requests, but simply unwilling to help.

Yes people complain about their ads, but their ads are of restaurants that I actually enjoy. Their articles are usually the most ground breaking as far as trendy things to do. The fashion section is a good read in my opinion too.

Check KTRU's website for the weekly roundup of specialty shows, covering genres including reggae,…read morepost punk, folk/Americana, noise, and electronica. The station also broadcasts a few Rice sports games, the occasional in-station performance, and some special campus events. In the rare instances when a DJ isn't around, KTRU broadcasts WRN (the World Radio Network) or its new "robotic" DJ takes over (pre-recorded sets). You can make requests online or over the phone; set lists are available online. KTRU also hosts a wonderful, free outdoor show every spring on the Rice campus. You don't have to be a student to DJ. DJ application deadlines are in the fall, spring, and summer. KTRU is generally acclaimed as one of the best college stations in the country, but though I DJ'd there for 6 years I don't have the concrete info on that at my disposal (will update later with real info).

On select nights there are themes that the station follows covering all genre's of music, even genre's one wouldn't imagine exists. At times, weekends from midnight on fro, the station becomes a bizarre bazaar as if the station is on auto-pilot and its media player plays all songs at random which makes for good entertainment, great entertainment when herbally induced. However, this is rare. Most of the time you'll get something you'd have to be bored out of your mind to hear. Cuul ppl preset 91.7
