This is an immersive museum highlighting the life of Mary Shelley and her most notable literary work, Frankenstein. Each level is dedicated to a time period of Mary's life or eras of Frankenstein, complete with a recreation of the monster, a viewing room of one of the films, a bookable escape room experience on the top floor, and a "very scary basement" on the lowest level.
As a fan of gothic literature and the horror genre, I found this museum a unique blend of informative and spooky. While this house is not the real residence of Mary Shelley, it is similar to what homes were like during that period of time. There are some very creepy displays, and I do not recommend for young children or the faint of heart... I started to go into the basement but I was honestly too scared. I still am unsure if there was a person/actor down there - it was terrifying!!
Overall, I thought it was worth the entrance fee (approx $20 USD, you can also find various offers online and on the official website). Just avoid the basement if you hate things like haunted houses! read more
