Scandic Talk - Grillad fläskkarré med tillbehör (totalt smaklöst även om upplägget var helt ok)

The Rica Talk Hotel is located in one of the southern suburbs of Stockholm. Note that it is not (as…read moreone previous review claims) located along one of the subway lines. It is however located close to the commuter train station Alvsjo. It is around 10 minutes by train from the central station but it is worth noting that the commuter trains do not run all night (the subway does) and in winter time the commuter trains are notorious for being late. Still the location is OK. If you are going to the fair it is located in connection to that so then it is an excellent location. The hotel itself is fairly new and it has a Scandinavian feel to it with light colors. The hotel staff were all very helpful and very polite. Check-in was very efficient and they made sure to ask if I wanted the Internet password. The room was also fairly nice and had the same type of design as could be seen in the lobby. Decent size as well which is nice for those who stay longer periods. Most things are fairly standard in the room; wireless Internet, TV, desk, a few chairs, 'minibar' (or at least some snacks, drinks etc - do note that there is no fridge so the drinks are not cold), water kettle, iron (very difficult to find) etc. The bathroom was also nice, no bath tub but I only stayed for one night so no problem. The only thing that annoyed me and I am actually not sure what they were thinking was the fact that they provide soap, shower gel and conditioner but no shampoo. For me it would make sense if they did not provide conditioner but still just a minor issue. The breakfast was great. Large selection of both hot and cold food. Numerous different types of bread (and even some sweets and pastries if that is your thing). The best part was without a doubt the juice/smoothie bar where they made fresh juice and smoothies. There was also an excellent selection of different newspapers. If I would have known that the breakfast was this good I would have made sure to have some more time to spend there. To summarize the hotel is a great choice for anyone who do not mind being based a little bit outside the city. The rates are rather low when there is not a fair going on so it is possible to stay at this hotel for a fairly good price.

This is one of the less good Scandic I have stayed in…read more As any Scandic standard rooms are small but enough for the purpose - sleeping. At Scandic you do not get cute toiletteries, for the environment they use cointainers for schampoo and soap. Since summer 2013 they use FACE-products. Bring your own conditioner though if you stay in a standard room! Also, no towels for the floor/feet to stand on after the shower in standard rooms. This particular room had a super tiny bathroom with more cons than pros - there is a level difference to keep the water from flooding the floor, it happened more than once that I step right on it not very plesant. - soap and shampoo containers in shower is places way up high, even for me being tall it was a bit difficult to get anything in the hand - toiletpaper holder places too closed to the wall making me hitting my elbow everytime... (You don't need to know everything) - no ventilation at all. Room got hot and damped after taking a shower (good thing windows were not locked) Besides that, chaos in the breakfast room around 09-0930 because they stop serving breakfast at 09.30 on weekdays and 10.00 on weekends. You heard me - 10.00! On weekends! No seats available. No fresh refills on scrambled eggs, yoghurt etc. IMO not a pleasant breakfast due to this. Otherwise, staff is nice. Check in and check out went smoothly. Possible to check out online! Well, this is probably where you stay just to shop til you drop at IKEA on opposite side or nearby mega shopping malls Heron City and Skärholmens centrum. So, maybe you are ok with the hotel for a night or two. They accept AMEX.

Breakfast is poor, but at the opening time crowded by asian tourists and construction workers, therefore if you are really hungry - there is McD a block away. Stars for having a clean room. Paid over 160e for a business trip. I wish I had checked the place an chosen a more central location. Other reviews here dont reflect the depth of pooreness of the hotel price value ratio.

From IBIS to MERCURE with a grand renovation. The change and renovation has been only recently and…read moreyou can experience it both ways: new floors and furniture; it doesn't only look new it is new. But some negatives come with it (at least for now): where are the drawers and cupboards for clothes? I stayed for 5 nights as a single in a double room privilege and did not know where to put things. No hooks in the bath room and hangers for towels. And definitely not enough lights: it never gets really bright in winter and how would I enjoy reading in one of the 2 comfty chairs? Someone must spend attention to details - PLEASE. THE BEST: receptionists are extremely customer-oriented. And The breakfast is very good.

It is a bit more…read morethan 15 minutes by subway to the central station (and it is 5-10 minutes walk to the subway from the hotel). There is not much of interest in the surrounding area so for tourists it is only an option if willing to either travel some time by subway or if you have access to a care (in which case the location is fairly good, right next to the highway). The hotel is pretty much what one would expect from an Ibis hotel. It is basic but clean. The hotel has seen better days and could use some paint etc in the rooms. The room we were in was large but as usual in an Ibis hotel not much furniture. There was however a TV with some basic channels, a desk (Internet access is however not included and it is expensive), a few places to sit and a large bed. The bed could have been more comfortable but it was still fairly ok. The bathroom had a shower (no bath tub). The soap provided had a very cheap feel to it so if staying for more than 1-2 nights I would suggest bringing your own. The breakfast was above average and is the best option in the surrounding area. The big advantage we saw in the hotel was however the price - the value was unbeatable. So for those who do not mind staying outside of Stockholm and want a budget choice this is a solid option (do however also remember to consider the expensive subway tickets when comparing to other options).
