What makes this hotel so special is the food. After a hard day skiing the food was fabulous. There was a wide choice especially on the days when they had their special buffets which was twice during our 7 day stay. They have good facilities including a swimming pool with flumes, a bowling alley and tennis and sqush courts. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the main ski lifts. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a weeks skiing especially for families with children.

Not to mention and full view of the see (though you are looking across the train tracks so keep that in mind). Also worth noting is that it's away from the hustle bustle of the city so besides the trains, it's pretty peaceful. And after spending about 30 minutes with all the tourists downtown, I was ready for the peace! I can't speak to the hotel but would recommend the restaurant for a lunch or even a low key dinner.

Very friendly staff (all dressed in Lederhoson of course), reasonably priced rooms, and GREAT view of the Alps. Definitely splurge the extra $15 or $20 for a mountain view room. Sitting on the balcony watching the sun rise on the Alps for the added price of 4 McDonald's extra value meals? Sign me up (and i really like McDonald's). They offered a discount to their restaurant for staying with them, but it didn't entice us enough to try. Great continental breakfast with a view though. Looked up the translation for the hotel name afterwards out of curiosity... turns out it's "Four Seasons". Funny! Definitely a little too rustic to be the Four Seasons that you're probably thinking of.. but it was just what we were looking for.

Several others in our group got rooms facing the lake and some had balconies! We had lunch out on the dock in the back with was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine, a salad and to just wile away the afternoon. Make a reservation or you will be disappointed, although they do give preference to people that are staying in the hotel which is how we got to have lunch out there. There are umbrellas that they will adjust for you if the sun is too intense. I also ate at their indoor restaurant and had fresh trout that was just delicious! We also had a local dessert which was like pieces of dough and applesauce, but whatever they call it- I hope you aren't cutting back on carbs cuz it was delicious! Seehotel Gruner Baum definitely has the best location and views in this little town!

Plenty of outdoor seating that offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. They offer a pool and sauna as a fallback option in case your outdoor plans get rained out. If you are traveling with a group of people, they have two apartments that are separate from the main hotel. The apartments offer kitchen, separate bedrooms, and spacious common areas. Maybe this is something all of the hotels offer, but in addition to our rooms we were given free local bus passes. The passes are unlimited and makes visiting local attractions like the Eagles Nest, Königssee Lake District, Jenner Bahn, and other local towns a breeze. The only drawback is location. Only a five minute walk from the train station but a hilly 20 minute walk from the main part of town.
