However, these attract the highest prices naturally Expedia led me to the Best Western Premier Park with a good reduced price offer. It's located on the east bank of the Rhein, about 20 minutes by subway from Hauptbahnhof The hotel is in a modern building about 5 minutes walk from the closest U-bahn subway station. The decor and furnishings are modern and comfortable. I found a few English channels on the TV but found it more interesting to watch Sunshine, the movie in German to test out my very rusty O level German! Wifi was free and fast They have a gym and Finnish sauna, which I didn't brave as I wasn't sure it would be a European naturist style sauna! These facilities are located on the top floor and there's a nice sun terrace with a nice view here The buffet breakfast was lovely - choice of hot items, which was good for a continental hotel. The, there was the more usual cold meats and cheese as well as fresh fruit, cereal and yoghurt. It was a good start to the day There's an Aldi supermarket 2 minutes walk away as well as a few kebab shops. There's a decent restaurant at the hotel (judging from the menu and price) but I ate out for dinner at the excellent Poele d'Or restaurant This is a good quality, good value for money option in Cologne

I was upgraded to the Club Level ... and this was my first-ever experience with it. It was like walking into a very nice office reception area, with food & drink readily available. It was funny one night when I tried their afternoon "reception". They brought out lots of appetizers and even a hot penne pasta dish. The staff on this floor is amazing, as well! My room was very nicely-appointed, and I had a direct view of the train tracks just before crossing the Hohenzollern Bridge. Since I'm a bit of a train nut, this was absolute perfection for me! I wasn't even envious I didn't get a Cathedral-facing view, either. :-) Also, since it was late May, the sunrise lit up my room beautifully every morning. (Alas, if there was one thing that bugged me a little, it was the shower. The water temperature would change every time someone flushed a toilet somewhere in the building. Hopefully this can be addressed. On the bright side, at least my morning showers were invigorating!) Legends, the bar on the main floor, was fantastic! I will judge a place by how they make their Whiskey Sours, and Legends is indeed legendary. Their food menu is plenty satisfying, too. I enjoyed at least a couple afternoons & evenings here. Since breakfast was included in my hotel reservation, I definitely took advantage and ate at Glashaus. Now THIS is a breakfast buffet! I think I could spend an entire morning here just getting fat & happy (vacation calories, like movie theater calories, don't count!). The layout is world-class, as is the Omelet Station. Glashaus breakfast is definitely a way to fall off the diet wagon, heheh! :-D All-in-all, a great place to stay and I look forward to staying again.

Impeccable Staff!…read more Koln was a (3) day stop over from Rijswijk, Netherlands & Den Haag Centraal. It was also close the Paris , France so yeah I'm having fun after my business trip, but I'm getting tired still having a blast. My 1st time in Germany , so I booked Koln-Maritim Hotel Ohhh, my gosh it's such a beautiful hotel It's Huge too! Lots of restaurants to choose to eat if you don't go out. You won't starve here, and add on the breakfast if you're a breakfast person. History: It wasn't built too long ago in 1989 but renovated in 2014. The panoramic views are spectacular! I was taking photos like a little kid from different angles to show my friends & family. I think I have enough w/out me in them. It's also, popular based on the amount of people checking in. A very good thing. I'd refer anyone I know coming this way to stay here. Cons: A red rope at reception to keep some order in line bc it got scattered & people just jumped the line bc there was no order & I don't like to dictate but I was waiting for a long time bc of (6) guys checking in as a group holding up the line for 30 mins. Ohh, yeah they need water decanter refilled more often & new clean cups bc I was thirty but didn't know which cups were clean or dirty & Jwater wasn't there. So, I got over heated waiting online. However, I recommend this Hotel Bellissimo!

They liked that they had a spa and pool here. I was first taken aback by other guests walking around in the spa area, rather scantily clad. Much different than being back in the states. This hotel was closer to the old city, Altstadt, but a little further away from the cathedral. I wasn't fond of the directional and one ways to get to this hotel. It wasn't always easiest to get to, if you don't know your way around. There is however a close S-bahn station pretty much in front of the hotel. Still there's a lot of food options in the vicinity and some great gelato places as well. The best time to be here was always during Christmas. I always had the Christmas market set up and there's a really nice one always at the altstadt as well as at the Dom, which is close by. It is also not far from the shopping center or main street for shopping, Hohe strasse.

But the elevators are quite small. Also the rooms are not the most comfortable. And also when you arrive, you have to wait for several hours, with your luggage! While they are cleaning your room! So that puts a damper in how I think of this hotel.

Definitely a bed bug, I looked it up on the Internet. After four hours of haggling with the desk clerk with the dead bed bug present he did give us a full refund. I would recommend that you avoid this hotel until they clean it up. I feel itchy just writing this review. Pay more if you need to or it'll be "say hello to my little friend" and you wake up covered in welts after paying to be the main course at the all-you-can-eat insect buffet. Sound like fun? Check in was smooth and the room was surprisingly quite nice. The amenities were on the spartan side, but got the job done. I like the walk-in shower as it's quite efficient. The work desk in the room had plenty of power outlets and USB ports. Also of importance is that the bed was quite comfortable. I had dinner in the lobby bar which had a limited menu, but was surprisingly tasty and had a number of healthy options. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and I was impressed with the quality of the buffet which was highlighted by an omelette station which gladly accommodates my request for an egg white omelette...with fresh egg whites. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would absolutely return if I'm ever back in Koln.
