This was one of those serendipity plays that we make so often on the road. We have no idea where we want to stay and usually have no idea where we are. It was getting late and we were headed to Jihlava but decided to stop at the very next hotel we found instead.
Instead we found this wonderful jewel.
Much to our surprise we were put up in the corner suite of the manor house next to the hotel. We've lived in apartments smaller than this. Plus the view over the lawns and lake was a pleasant way to unwind after a full day of being in the car (and other traumas).
Everything worked well to our satisfaction. The bed was comfy, the room was spotless and the bath enormous.
Then we went to the restaurant.....
We ordered the pea soup and pork with mushroom sauce the beef tenderloin and chicken.
The soup was one of the high points in our trip. We have no idea how they did it but be assured there will be a lot of experimentation when we get home to try to duplicate.
The pork were nothing less than hockey pucks. Whoever put these on the stove must have taken a smoke break while they cooked because they were mostly inedible. The beef was tough and the chicken flavorless.....
We will gladly come back and spend the night and eat pea soup. For the rest of it....we'll look elsewhere.
