I recently spent 3 nights at Hotel Tryp in Castelo Branco. It's located a few minutes walk from the historic castle that the town is named for, and just a few more minutes from the town itself.
The hotel sits on a hillside, and the rooms on the front side of the building have spectacular views and balconies. The rooms themselves are clean, well maintained, and have modern fixtures and decor. My only complaint about my room was that it didn't have enough electrical outlets.
Other amenities include tennis courts and a nice pool. Most of the staff speak English and/or Spanish in addition to Portuguese, and were very friendly and helpful. The hotels restaurant was also very enjoyable, with daily specials for lunch and dinner in addition to the a la carte menu and dinner buffet. The menu was fairly priced and the quality of the food was above-average for a typical hotel restaurant.
I enjoyed my stay, and have no reason to not use this hotel again on future visits to Castelo Branco. read more
