I visited a room at the hotel, the receptionist showed me a room with barely any natural light, and claimed that this was one of their best rooms. A hotel which thinks foreigners are stupid is not worth my custom. I booked a room at another hotel in town, and will always book my guests at other hotels in Erfurt.

This hostel's major strength is that it's cheap. The hostel was overbooked when I stayed there…read morewith a group. You're forced to use an antiquated pay-for-internet-time system that works sporadically at best. The rooms are small. Showers are on a short timer. And, during a stay with a group, the hostel screwed up the reservation with no apology. If fact, the approach of the staff and the manager is that they're doing a favor by just being there. Maybe it works for Germans familiar with such an attitude. But if you're a foreigner be very wary of this place or at least be prepared to be insulted. There are alternative lodgings in Erfurt and Weimar. I would urge you to consider them.
