This hotel is located in the town center, right by Frankfurt main train station. I decided to stay…read morehere due to the proximity of this place to the train station. This area doesn't compare to the worst places in the US, however I can see why people don't like this area. It's not great, and there's lots of people standing around from homeless to junkies but the hotel is pretty clean, but it's super small so if you have a big suitcase, that could take up the space of the entire room. If you're staying in Frankfurt for a few days I would recommend finding elsewhere to stay. It's just a sketchy area. Besides that, the room was clean, shower was nice, and they had breakfast with the stay and the breakfast offering was quite nice actually, so that's a bonus for me.

We traveled all day and arrived in a HEATWAVE of 100°F at 5pm! Our room had AIR CONDITIONING & a…read moreminibar! We cleaned up & walked to a local eatery ( lots across the street and within a 10 minute walk) I'd suggest you avoid walking great distances on the street after sun goes down as there seemed to be a number of homeless and sketchy dudes hanging about, but we got thru with very little harassment from beggars for $. UBER delivered us right to the front door. There is an elevator but it's a small 2 person with luggage deal. There was a small cocktail lounge area but we didn't partake. Breakfast bar was GREAT and a much more lashing spread than American continental style hotels. All staff spoke English. The Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is maybe a 2 min walk away and does take you to the airport as well. Easy peasy!!

Absolutely lovely hotel. Very clean, with a nice swimming pool, and the working staff was…read moreexcellent. A few things to be aware: it is about a 30€ cab ride from airport. Train station and bus line are very close but they both require a quick transfer to the airport. There is only a few options for food within a quick walking distance, but what we found was quite nice. The included breakfast was outstanding. For the overall price I thought I was at a much more expensive hotel.

That has been for many years my place when I stay in Frankfurt, mostly it is for business, but also…read morefor leisure visiting friends in the area. I have seen over the years many pleasant improvements like the renovated rooms. They have a very classy and classic modern design, accurately built and very functional. They have an AC which is very helpful during the muggy days of a typical summer in Frankfurt, but for the winter time a traditional heating system. Keep in mind an AC is not a matter of course in German hotels. WiFi is pretty fast and stable, and not problem to get that for multiple devices. I had this time a room towards the street with lots of traffic including tramway, but the noise level is low as the windows insulate the rooms quite well from the noise. I had a room for two person this time, which is not extremely spacious but has everything you need, including a desk, a spacious cupboard including a safe; everything very functional. The layout of the rooms varies as this is an old building. Good thing: The lobby bar is open 24/7, and has been completely remodeled recently; there are now designated waiters and the space is pretty busy also with locals; the prices for drinks are ok, when you think about that place as stylish upscale bar, but definitely higher than in a neighborhood pub. The breakfast is included. It is very rich, mostly continental (pretty German), but also some American style warm breakfast items. The hotel is operated by the owner like many of the good places in Germany. There seems to be a high continuity in the staff which is quite uncommon for the industry. The service is very friendly (which is not the standard in Germany) and helpful; there seems to be a good spirit in the team. The proximity to the central train station (very quick walk) is a big advantage as it saves you the cost for the taxi (taxi in Frankfurt is anyway a special experience, don't expect that the the taxi driver knows the city better than a stranger does); public transit is recommended, the trade fair / exhibition area is in walking distance; driving by car is in Frankfurt downtown a nightmare, and parking would be a rather expensive exercise, so don't try that. The area around the central station is a bit mixed; you are close to the bankers in suit and tie, but if you take the wrong turn you are in a shabby redlight district; I don't think it is really unsafe, as long you don't demonstrate your intent to compete in pimping or drug dealing; it is rather just disturbing to see. From a price perspective you want to look in advance when there are the big conferences and trade fairs; during those weeks the prices go up steeply like all hotels do it in Frankfurt and should avoid the city (except you are part of the event), but in regular weeks the value for money is really good.

When we returned, the hotel staff LOCKED US OUT due to the rapidly increasing hostility and violence in the large gathering immediately outside the hotel. This left us stuck in the middle of the building chaos. I have never felt so unsafe. We immediately left the hotel and went elsewhere. When I contacted the hotel for a refund they told me "We are unable to refund the costs for your stay. Due to this current situation and the associated challenges, we cannot accommodate every refund request, as this would significantly impact our financial standing." The Manhattan Hotel knows their guests are unsafe and would rather prioritize financial gain over the safety. Absolutely shameful. If you value your safety and the safety of your children and loved ones I beg you to stay ANYWHERE else.
