The rooms are well equipped and clean, and the staff is always courteous, friendly, and willing to help with any need/desire. They offer a selection of room types - hotel or apartment (with mini kitchen), sleeping varying numbers of guests. The location is ideal - Obertauern, rated the "snowiest" place in Austria, cannot be beat. Even the NY Times noticed (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/29/travel/skiing-the-alps-austria-winter.html)! Owned by the Grillitsch family, the team goes out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Goran would drive our group to the lift, a mere 3 minutes away and pick everyone up. Afternoon snacks of either a dessert or stew were always a welcome treat. I am marking this as moderate, since compared to the resorts in the US, Sonne and the ski experience (lift, lessons, restaurants) are a deal ... you get so much more than you'd ever get in the US. Go there - you'll love it. The US ski resorts could learn a thing or two (or more!) from this resort town.

They're swimming in butter but there's nothing like a…read moremorning of hardcore skiing that makes me not give a shit about the amount of calories I pack on. To be honest though I totally overdid it and had to take a breather from all this Austrian food after our trip. The "fitness salat" was hilarious because it didn't look healthy at all but it DID look delicious. It really made me want to eat chicken. Anyway it was yummy (apparently) but had a fair bit of dressing. We also tried the ever famous Kaiserschmarrn- super delicious and heavy and yum. I enjoyed the interior- it was sweet and cozy.
