To begin with, the service was impeccable- the staff was friendly, helpful, and constantly looking for ways to improve our dining experience. The food itself was similarly fantastic; providing us a great blend of tasty and imaginative cuisine. Every dish (and there were many of them if you include the complimentary amuse-bouches) was a creative blend of flavors and textures. The restaurant was also very accommodating with regards to dietary restrictions (gluten-free in my case), which is always a big plus. To top it all off, while the restaurant was certainly not inexpensive in an absolute sense (€59 for a 4 course meal), it was excellent value as the dining experience was truly top notch. I can't recommend this restaurant enough!

We started with a salmon carpaccio which was to die for, followed by celeriac cream soup with ravioli which was also exceptional. This was followed by veal filet which was done perfectly medium rare, tender and a real treat. Last a creme brulee with thyme and berries which was a perfect finish to an extraordinary meal. I don't give five stars often but Villa Mare deserves it. The service was extraordinary, the setting superb and overall an absolutely five star dining experience not to be missed.

The ST Club (ST means Schiffstechnik, which is maritime technique) is the stereotype of a student…read moreclub: it's small and - being nice - rustic. Being mean it is shabby and dirty. If you need a styish place, you should go somewhere else. People go to ST because of the good musik (there are student partys where they play a mix of rock, indie, oldies, a little hip hop or theme partys like metall parties), because the entrace fee and the drinks are really cheap, the people the people simply likeable, because you can sit in the garden, when it is warm and there will be BBQ, and simply because everyone you know will be there, too. That's why people accept the totally crowded dance floor and long entrance queues on fridays and tuesdays - but it helps to be there a little earlier. On sundays they have free movie presentations and there are much more events to be found on the club's homepage or flyers. Insider (= people living in Rostock and going to ST club for more than 2 years) claim the musik and ambiance to fall of quality constantly, but still you either come never again or hardly go ever anywhere else. Important: You won't get inside under the age of 18! And if you look like you're 100 - don't forget you ID or driving licence, or they won't let you in!

The clientele ranges from the 23 year olds the the 70 year olds. Everyone seems to appreciate the architecture and the atmosphere. Actually the hotel is really not far from Lübeck Airport, which means you can easily reach it from London via Ryanair.
