This restaurant and hotel is a small gem in a village somewhere between Basel and Freiburg off of…read morethe Rhein river. It is a rennovated building across from the train station, but also has a second new building down the street. The room was large and decorated with urban NYC photos. Large TV, complementary bottle of water, comfortable bed, and new bathroom were nice and above standard. The highlight though was the restaurant. The restaurant had three areas a larger main room, a second stammtisch and a weingarten. All rooms are decorated in a modern country style. As house guests, we were in the stammtisch room and shared a long table with some locals. Service is familiar, efficient and friendly. We had Wienerschnitzel and pasta with fruit de mar. Both were excellent. I was concerned about the fruit de mar but it was fresh and very nice. Wine selection was large as can be expected from a restaurant in a wein region. Dessert, creme brule and chocolate mousse were also excellent. The prices were appropriate for the high quality of the food and service.
