Staff was very friendly, and answered many questions. Had lunch here as well as dessert and we weren't disappointed with what we ordered. Great ambience in the outdoor seating area. We also had breakfast here in the next morning that we pre-reserved. The beers were great and we tried different ones. Very gemütlich! Might get busy on the weekends, would recommend to make reservations. After lunch, we hiked some of the trails in the area.

Clean air, nice paths for hiking, you can go for canoeing, bouldering etc. Schlehenmuehle is somehow hidden in the side valleys near Eggloffstein and not easy to find..... but..... What you definitely find here is that - no mobile phone is working. It is in the middle of nowhere. And that´s why I love it. You can sink yourself into the silence of the forests around this little hotel. The food is organic and very, very good. Prices are reasonable! Either the roasted pork shoulder with potato dumplings (Schaufele) or the baked carp with home made potato salad. Have a cold beer with it or a soft drink - you choose! During good weather sit in the beer garden beneath the Hotel or on the balcony with an outlook on the valley. For the kids: you can ask for a hammer and protective glasses to search for ammonite and other prehistoric things - be sure you ´ll find something!!
