For comparison I have stayed at the SwissHotel in Berlin center, which is a nice stylish hotel, located directly in the middle of the city. Perfect if you have business nearby, but a SwissHotel is the same in any city in the world. In contrast, Haus Leopold is in an actual neighborhood of Berlin (Zehlendorf is my favorite part of Berlin, but that is because my father grew up here and I spent many summers here).
In the morning kids walk past on their way to school, people commute to work and ride their bikes to the supermarket. Nothing like that happens in center city Berlin. This hotel is quiet, with generous rooms (there is even a room with 4 beds for a family). The owners are very helpful and the breakfast (included) is very generous.
If you have a rental car, there is free parking and the location is close to Route 115, which encircles the city, so it's great for trips to Potsdam, Wannsee, center city Berlin, etc. If you enjoy biking, the bike baths in all of Berlin are well identified and maintained. I think biking is one of the best ways to explore all that the city offers.
