100% Pinterest, 0% love. During the days, people let their kids run around in the pools & on the beach as well as Kn the restaurants. Speaking of which, the only reason this space is getting 3 instead of 2 stars is their incredible head chef Mike Beltran, who cooks with love & whose menus dance with Mexican pride. My honest review of the Panamera would be 2 of 5 stars. It's designed, but not worth staying in. In short, stay elsewhere but go for a day to take pics & use the facilities instead. I feel obligated to start with the bad, which is far more important info for travelers trying to make educated decisions on accommodations in Tulum. On our first night, the front desk abandoned post (after a power outage) around 10:30pm. Who has *ever* heard of a luxury design hotel where the desk closes??? ESPECIALLY when they lie and advertise having a 24/7 manned desk (picture below). On day 1, we were warned by staff if we dirty our towels too much they'll charge us. "Ok. Now I'm on edge at the beach, so thanks." Second, as a foreigner in Mexico, it's unsafe to drink tap water. As a guest, you're still forced to PAY for water poolside or in the restaurant, which is terrible under these circumstances. We were told by a pool server we're allowed ONLY ONE FREE GLASS PER DAY. As for the room with its rock hard bed that goes beyond the acceptable level of firmness. No duvet. No floor length mirrors. Lights that flicker & a fan that buzzes so loud it's impossible to sleep through. Now to the beach, which is unusable due to the sea grass problem. Slimy heaps of smelly seaweed piled waist high everywhere. Not to mention, upon arrival, staff ensured us they'd research then book us a tour to Yaxmuul cenotes; no dice. They never did. We booked it ourselves through an outside company. Day 2 started ok except for being told that coffee with a side of milk is not included in the "1 free coffee per guest" policy. A hotel can't be doing too well if they have to nickel and dime people for water/milk/bath towels. Additionally, the wifi doesn't work at the pool by the new building. While the room is Architectural Digest beautiful, it screams for storage & rugs. I wish I could have loved this place. I wanted to, truly. But if you value your sanity and want to feel pampered, steer clear of the Panamera. Get your Instagram fix somewhere else. read more
