Obviously under new owners or management and they are on the right track. Meals were nice and filled the plate. Friendly table service in a pub is rare these days and much appreciated. read more

Arguably the best guest house in the Orange district!…read more Four of us stayed in one of the two-bedroom suites. The room accommodated the four adults quite easily, with two separate bedrooms, one bathroom (with bath), and an open plan kitchen - lounge - dining area. Some of the things I really liked were: The complimentary breakfast baggie every morning, containing three slices of bread, jams, butter, margarine, flash fruit juices and gourmet muesli; Reverse-cycle airco; Pillow-top comfy beds (even in the double single beds); Plenty of pillow options; Extra blankets (but not required); Comfy couch; Large flat screen tv; Full range of kitchen utensils; Hot shower with broad head (not one of those pissy needle types); Fluffy towels changed daily, so I didn't have to remember which one was mine; Great fireplace and comfy chairs in the quiet reception, if you needed space; Off-street parking; Lovely old-fashioned service, but modern decor and comforts; Centre of town location (just around the corner); TERRIFIC new wine bar just across the road!! If you've got the inclination to stay somewhere a little classier than a motel, then have a look as the prices are really quite reasonable for a share scenario (it cost me under $250 for 3 nights over the weekend, shared cost).

We were at one of the rear buildings on the ground floor but our parking was still under cover with an awning. We arrived late and without a booking but they found a room for us. It had an adjoining room that had two queen sized beds and our bathroom had six towels. The TV had a bit of an issue on a couple of channels but we really hadn't come to Orange to watch the TV so we got over that. The internet worked OK too and was free. Plenty of big trucks passed by out the front of the motel but we couldn't hear them in our room. Fridge was cold but there was no complimentary water so remember to buy your own. We were recommended by locals to go to this one and they were right.

The room was outfmdated, curtains stained, tiles broken in the bathroom, shower head leaking like mad and a minor funky smell throughout. The only thing keeping this place alive is the staff as they are very friendly and efficient. Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend you to stay? No, probably not. *Update, it appears that the motel is updating some of their rooms so perhaps there is hope yet!

They were fine, but we weren't blown away by the flavors. The salads tasted like they had no dressing on it, the rotisserie veggies had two small pieces of cauliflower (which were delicious) and the mini potatoes. The chicken was good and plentiful, but not a wow dish. The porchetta was fatty, but it was made with pork belly, so that's to be expected. Still, the flavor wasn't over the top delicious. Everyone was nice and the ambiance in the restaurant section was less loud than the bar area.

The steaks are great, I can highly recommend the Beef Parmigana & they are very good with the doggie bags if you cannot finish your meals. The family enjoys coming here, kids are welcome. We each had a towel, pillow, bed sheets, and a blanket, as well as a few heaters in each room. The bunk beds were okay, a few of them were really squeaky. Showers turned warm quickly, and we're fine, but there's lots of dead black bugs hanging around the shower floor, no idea where they came from. You get 2 showers, 1 toilet (all stalls), 2 basins for about 28 beds (14 bunks). There's a really big communal dining area between the girl and guy rooms, which you have meals in. The ladies who prepared the food were really nice and hospitable, and all the meals were warm and delicious. We were given entertainment - radio, TV, and there were two giant jigsaw puzzles that my class tried (and failed) to solve after two days.

Their beds and carpet could use with an upgrade. The actual pub attached is fantastic though. The beer is cold and service is friendly. First and foremost its a friendly pub on the corner of William and Russell Streets. That puts it in the middle of town within walking distance of a heap of cafes and eateries. You don't need to go far to find good food though as the bistro at the back of the pub does great meals - most of which are under 20 bucks. There is guest parking out the back but its a bit disjointed to get from the carpark to the hotel. Doesn't matter though as there is heaps of on street parking out the front. From the front of the hotel there is a separate after hours entry for guests staying at the hotel and lift if you can't be bothered with stairs (there's only two levels) The rooms are plenty big enough and have been refurbished so they're a lot more modern than your typical room above a pub. The room I stayed in had a queen bed, all new furniture, bar fridge, kettle and coffee condiments, flat screen tv on the wall, and a good sized bathroom with a shower. It was also really warm and quiet which surprised me considering its a pub in the middle of town! The TV reception was a bit hit and miss but with free wi-fi and Netflix it didn't bother me in the slightest. At night you fill in a breakfast order and tick off what you want and at what time. Then you head to the bistro in the morning at that time and your hot breakfast awaits. The servings sizes are huge too. I don't think I saw anyone actually finish their whole breakfast.
