Some friends booked this hotel for them and us, and we were surprised at the price (~$225/night). But we assumed it would be a very nice hotel with a good location, service, and accommodations. Wrong on all counts.
The location is fine if you want to be in the "hipster" area that is up and coming. But it isn't especially close to the key areas you would want to visit as a tourist.
The service was okay but nothing special - one woman who works there is clearly a relative (daughter?) of the owners and takes it upon herself to boss around and berate the poor other employees. The very small lobby also includes a "bar" although I use the term loosely, as three chairs are available, and service is terrible.
Our room was old, run down, and dirty. The walls were scuffed and black from baggage. Although the rooms come with internet access, the router signal is so poor that it doesn't reach the rooms; you have to sit in the very small lobby to access internet. Housekeeping was less than stellar; we were never given lotion, despite seeing that each cart was stocked with plenty of it.
I could deal with some of these things if the price was really cheap; however, it was the most expensive hotel we stayed in in Europe (compared to our hotels in the hearts of Vienna and Venice). Totally unacceptable and would not return. read more
