Ventured out into the Palatinate for a special evening dinner at Das Esszimmer, a Michelin star…read morerestaurant with two excellent cooks and excellent staff. They offer 3-4 course menus depending on your budget, how hungry you are and dependent on their menu at the time. I went in Feb 2022 and you could pick from eoter an appetizer or first dish, a main and a desert or you could pick all 4. The Vitello Tonnato was an excellent starter with tuna and boiled veal. The pepper crumbs & spice rubs are amazing! I then had a first dish which was a creamy potato-truffel soup with crustini & this really hit the spot. If you go with 4 courses, make sure this is one of them. The mains, we had the fish with saffron and the beef filet with potato gnocchi. Sad to say, both missed the mark. The fish and saffron dish was lacking something that brought the dish together. The fish wasn't particularly well seasoned and the saffron eas too salty. For the beef dish, the meat could've been medium rare & the overall combination made it almost too savory. So in short, the mains were either overseasoned or underseasoned. Finally, for dessert, we had the homemade vanilla ice cream with espresso and this was a really nice way to end the meal. The ice cream.was perfect and the mix of chocolate with espresso really brought everything to a nice close. The prices were very fair overall. €56 for 3 course and €69 for the 4 course. Beers are market price so run between €3-5, a bottle pf water runs €4.90, coffees are about €3, aperitfs are €6-10 and cocktails / wine will cost upwards of €8 with wine going up to €150+ depending on the bottle. Customer service was superb. Overall spent 2 hours here and had a great meal. Be sure to reserve in advance!
