This is, without question, the worst European hotel I've ever stayed in. While the property itself…read moreis decent enough and the spa is worthy of four stars, the hotel staff should all be fired. In fact, if this is a microcosm of the Dorint culture at large, I would advise readers to avoid all Dorint properties.
Let's start with the basics. (1) Please train your staff to smile. This costs absolutely nothing and in fact creates a positive and inviting environment. (2) Please train your staff to be helpful and not to visibly groan when guests ask for basic services such as "can you please make me a replacement key, my mother-in-law left hers in the room" or "can you please tell me what time checkout is." 3) Please make it clear to guests which services are available for all and which are exclusive for "seminar attendees", and please train your staff not to be rude and condescending when guests attempt to access those services - especially when they're in common areas (in this case, as a hallway) that in any other hotel would be considered something available for all guests to access.
We stayed here three nights, and I never once saw a staff member smile or greet a guest in a kind and inviting manner. This is BASIC hospitality and its absence is a reflection of poor management and what is likely a dysfunctional corporate culture.
