Breakfast is ample and offers a good variety of fare including hot and cold choices, served in the 1st floor dining area. The area is also the hotel bar and is laid out around the feature staircase down to the tiny central foyer. The breakfast buffet area can become somewhat cramped at busier times. The rooms are adequate but not what I would call 4 star. Though clean and tidy and offering a well stocked mini-bar and coffee and tea making facilities they are somewhat 'tired'. My bathroom was in need of renovation. The shower head refused to stay put and always slipped, giving the wall a better shower than me. There were also dirty gaps between the tiles around the bath/shower and some mould. The usual supply of bathroom products was fine, as was the linen. My bed was a too soft for my taste, but none the less comfortable and well presented. I was lucky to have a working safe in my room, though other members of my party had no safe or a non-working safe, hotel information does indicate that all rooms have safes. The tariff is very competitive and I would consider staying here again, though I'm sure there must be better 4 star hotels in this city, but doubt that on price and value this Mercure hotel would be beaten. To sum up, I give this hotel 4, I'd like to give 3.5 but cannot do that on Yelp, so I give 4 stars because of the staff who were all a credit to the establishment.

The room I was in had two big palm trees blocking part of the sunset, still it was beautiful. The breakfast buffet is out of this world. Two rooms of food and beverage. Everything you could ever want for breakfast. Including a champagne cocktail. There is a small indoor pool, but nice jacuzzi area overlooking the Mediterranean. You have to get towels at the front desk for both the pool and the beach, which seems a bit odd, but not too bad if you remember ahead of time. The beach just below the hotel is too small, but down the path 200m is a larger beach that is sufficient with great views. I would highly recommend eating at Gastromar. They share the same kitchen as Michelin-rated El Brancs. The Turbot, cocktails, and dessert were excellent here.

There was no real need to leave this hotel. You can find all the relaxing you need here and it had hands down the most beautiful little cove beach and views that we saw along the coast! Felt like a 60s movie star swansong, with its cascading balconies, views, slow dining in the restaurants, and fun throwback cocktails in whimsical glassware. The breakfast was wonderful, and for lunch and dinners we ate at all three restaurants. The fare at all 3 is similar, but gets elevated in old fashioned elegance as you rose up each level. They all served seafood and we had an amazing white wine from the local vinyard! We did expect to see more "lunchy" items like fries, calamari, panini/pizzette at the beach level pirate dock bar -like more of a beach shack - but they are literally prepping out of a cool cave in the wall so no fryer is a minor thing, and it was a cheerful seaside vantage for a long lunch or drinks. Do reserve dinner upstairs as the restaurants can fill up. Last, shout-out to the welcoming help of the team at the front when you arrive! This place is a unique and romantic dream!

The rooms are fairly small, my room had about an inch gap under the door that have out to the hallway and I could hear whenever someone was about, not to mention the noticeable hall light that leaks in while you're sleeping or the lights are out. The bathroom was tiny but functional but wouldn't latch and there was no way to lock it which in my opinion was a big negative since it would let cold air in while you are in the shower and if you use the sink the door keeps bumping into your behind. As for the restaurant, here is where I felt the real tourist trap. The food was not cheap, and frankly not great by any means, the cod was rubbery, the aioli sauce was industrial, the vegetables were like eating mush and had no flavor at all. I ordered wine which was served in a chilled pitcher and I coups swear it was cut with water. The only decent part was the desert which was obviously frozen and not made by anyone in the kitchen. The lady that owns the hotel is not very nice, I asked if we could sit outside and have coffee, she kind of condescendingly told me that she was not a bar... Apparently we were not welcome and she did not seem to want our business. The owners husband seemed to only smile at my wife, as soon as he noticed me he proceeded to frown and leave the area. I would not recommend this hotel, there are nicer bed and breakfast places in the area that cost a lot less and are much more comfortable.
