This is a great hotel located in a great spot in Assisi. While the room was "European small", it was comfortable and everything worked well. The hotel staff was especially nice and helpful, providing information, etc. Our group had 2 dinners and breakfast during our stay. The dinners were just so-so, but the breakfasts had many delicious options that we all enjoyed. The bar area and balcony is a lively place to relax in the evenings with great service. I'd stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel in 2018 and everything about it was perfect. The view was AMAZING, the rooms small and cozy, fresh sheets, the restrooms beautiful and clean, the breakfast and dinner they served, immaculate. I couldn't have stayed in a better hotel. the staff was amazing and extremely helpful as they do speak english.
The VIEWS!!!! Was on a day trip so couldn't experience the restaurant / property but I came specifically to see the views from here. What a very special place. It is the definition of a fairytale exploring here and I cannot wait to one day come back and experience everything even more. read more

No doubt about it, the views overlooking the valley are breathtaking - and the best selling point for this property. Many rooms benefit from this via their respective balconies. And, there is also an outdoor patio located off the lobby bar with plenty of seating. There is also one restaurant on the floor directly below the lobby, with a large patio. The location is conveniently located. Rooms are small and traditional but nothing out of the ordinary for a city like Assisi. Beds were not terribly comfortable but the daily housekeeping was on point. The only reason I didn't give five stars is the in-room AC -- inadequate to keep the room at a comfortable temperature, given the very hot weather during our July visit. Didn't sleep well as a result. read more
Hotel Giotto is well situated in historic Assisi, walking distance to St. Francis Basilica, and all shops in the old town. The hotel was a joy to stay in - friendly staff, great food, and the best hotel views from our 26 days in Italy. We stayed three nights. Dinners were a treat each evening, outstanding food. The dining room is divided into tour/non-tour areas, and sound-insulating between each; my wife and I appreciated being able to enjoy quiet dinners apart from the raucous tours. Breakfasts were also excellent. Walking through Assisi is like going back in time, an amazing experience. One of the more picturesque places we visited in Italy. But be aware there is some steep up and down involved, and the narrow streets can make for a harrowing experience avoiding cars zooming past. We also visited Basilica Santa Maria, which is down in Assisi proper, which we took a taxi to. We took taxis to/from the train station as well. Assisi does not have an abundance of taxis, and a 20-30 minute wait for a cab was common; plan this into your itinerary if you go this route. Hotel Giotto is highly recommended. read more

My wife and I stayed here for just one night - but this is a lovely, quaint, nicely located hotel - and the staff met our every need. We were impressed with the comfort of our room and the stunning views of the hills. This spot is well within walking distance to many of the sites around the city - be sure to check out the patio/fountain and take a photo of the sunset - truly glorious. read more

Historic hotel in a very historic village. It is a bit of a climb to get to the hotel, but worth the journey! A brief walk up and down hill takes you to the Basilica and the tomb of St Francis. We found the hotel itself to be like a maze, some room on a positive number floor and some on a negative. We had dinner in the hotel with our tour group. The food was cold, and I found a long hair in my chocolate mousse. Several of our group left early in the meal because service was so very slow. We would not stay here again! read more

Clean, comfy, stellar views, wonderfully friendly staff!! Superb location for St Francis Basilica, plenty of shops, and a walk uphill to St Clare's and more shopping and restaurants. Excellent food in restaurant!! I stayed here for almost two weeks recently and every day was fantastic! Ate breakfast and dinner at hotel each day and was impressed every time. The breakfast gets 4 out of 5 stars - not as much variety as other places, but overall very good. Dinner would get 10 stars, if I could. Also, I'm vegetarian and was able to have a different meal each night, all better than the last. But, mostly, the staff - Beatrice and Luca at the front desk, Mitto and the Maitre'd in the restaurant, Donnatella & her crew in housekeeping, and so many others - immensely helpful and friendly. I'm eagerly looking forward to my return! read more
Very nice place overlooking the Umbria Hills. Our room has an amazing view. Lots of souvenir shops and the people are very friendly. The hotel is very close to the St. Francis church. read more
Very impressed by this hotel. Wasn't expecting much, but it was the best hotel we've stayed so far on our Italy tour. Extremely clean, beautiful terrace view overlooking the beautiful landscape view. Near many shops, not far from the St. Francis church at all. Breakfast included, had good options. Definitely recommend. read more
