Marbella gives the impression of a resort of faded glory and Hotel El Faro reflects the resort it is based in. To be fair, perhaps a visit in mid October, especially coinciding with some spectacular thunderstorms may not have shown off Marbella at its best.
Hotel El Faro's major plus is its location, about 30 seconds from the beach promenade and a short 5 minute stroll from the picturesque old town.
My room is spacious but there is widespread evidence of worn fittings and things which need a lick of paint. Everything is clean though and all the staff do a good job, especially the multi-lingual friendly staff.
My room has a nice balcony which just overlooks other buildings but the inclement weather stopped me from sitting out there. There is also a kitchenette with 2 cooking rings and a fridge. Simple cooking implements are included.
There are 2 English speaking channels on the TV - CNN and Eurosport. Air conditioning is also welcome in the summer, I'm sure.
