This shop is in West Quay and is easy to find. It is a really good shop selling a big range of chocolates. The only bad thing is that they are expensive and I end up spending a lot of money here. The chocolates look and taste great and you can buy from small packs of 6 to big selection boxes and slabs of chocolate. If you buy three packs then you get some money off. It is a good place to find gifts and the staff are friendly. I am a member of the Hotel Chocolat tasting club so I get 5% off everything I buy. read more

This is probably one of the nicest chocolate shops i have ever been to! It has only been in southampton for about a year and in that time i must have visited it about a hundred times. Perhaps a tad more expensive than Thorntons however much much nicer! Pretty much if its chocolate they sell it. They have these little gift packs which have about 6 chocolates in. They come in milk, white and dark varieties and are soooooo nice. They come in a variety of flavours are are a nice gift. Another speciality of Hotel Chocolat are the 'Slabs'. These are slabs of chocolate small or big in loads of different flavours. Flavours include strawberry and creme, chilli and orange and caramel cookies. They also came in gift sets. You can also get little boxes of chocolates which are called 'simply thanks' which are a nice gift for a thank you! This is the yummiest chocolate on Earth! There are conventional boxes of chocolates plus big slabs that even a chocoholic would have to share. Located centrally within West Quay Shopping Centr, this store is very easy to find. Staff are helpful and the shop smells absolutely gorgeous. I first went in here the other week when I was looking for a gift for a friend. I'd been all around the shops three times and was completely uninspired. However, as soon as I stepped inside Hotel Chocolat, I realised this was the perfect place to buy a gift. I mean, who doesn't like luxury chocolate?!! I'd seen this place there for months but had never bothered going in. It looks very posh from the outside and I assumed it would be really pricey but I was pleasantly surprised. The gifts were all really affordable and the day I went in they had a promotion on, bonus! The staff were really friendly but not in your face like some staff members can be in other shops. The best bit for me though had to be the bag they give you to keep your gifts in. It was so lovely, and certainly saved on wrapping paper!! read more

I have only visited the store a couple of times, they do have FREE SAMPLES on the counter. However I have ordered online quite a few times due to where I live. The chocolate is of excellent quality & absolutely divine. Some Items are not as expensive as you think, when you check out say the thickness of the slabs of chocolate & a you do it far less due to the quality. There themed items for Valentines, Easter, etc are fun, gorgeous & always well presented in the packages. read more

I love Hotel Chocolate, what can I say. I was over the moon when they decided to open a Southampton branch as I've been a member of their chocolate tasting club for a number of years. The chocolates from this shop are amazing, they really obviously have a passion for chocolate and its quite honestly the best I've ever tasted. So much better than bog standard boring old chocolate you can get from other stores. They have a little hot chocolate bar in the shop where you sample their 'liquid chocolate' and have small packs of chocolates available as well as larger gift boxes, slabs and gift sets available. They offer gift boxes for Christmas, new babies, pretty much anything you can think of and the chocolate is to die for.! read more

I love chocolate and what a better place besides buying from Thorntons is a shop in the Westquay shopping centre which just sells chocolate on its own. I really like visiting there and browsing the different types of chocolates on sale. The sales assistants are friendly and helpful and it has a nice atmosphere in there too. read more

I love chocolate and went into this shop really excited, as a friend had raved about it. It has a very exclusive look about it, and the chocolate is displayed nicely. However, I found it all a bit clinical, it didn't have the same comfort factor as walking into a thorntons does for example, and the prices were quite high - might be worthwhile for buying gifts, but not otherwise. Have tasted some chocolate from there, and it was nice, but nothing too special :( I think that for the quality it is definitely overpriced. Always seems to be really quiet in there which makes it less likely for me to walk in as I hate being the only customer in a shop with the shop assistants watching my every move. read more

Went to buy a present for my other half and based on the knowledge of the staff I bought a considerable amount. Historically I dont actually like Hotel Chocolat chocolate, I find it too bitter but after a bunch of tasters and a good chat, we found something for me. Worked out ok. But I will still stick to Dairy Milk! Great shop, good knowledge however the price of the product in comparison to others e.g. Green & Blacks, just can't justify buying anymore. read more

If you are walking by it's always worth popping as they usually have free samples. Hotel Chocolat is more expensive than the average box of chocolates but it is also a million times better. They introduced me to the joy of fruity chocolate and buy their tasting club boxes and you'll try some unusual and imaginative creations. I first discovered the delights of Hotel Chocolat when my sister started having a monthly taster box delivered. Imagine how happy I was when they opened a shop in Southampton! I really love this place. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I love how I get offered something everytime I go in. The chocolate itself isn't to everyone's taste. It does have a high cocoa content and some people prefer the cheaper, more milky brands (personally, I love them all). I think the products sold here make perfect gifts because they are so beautifully packaged. Some of the items are vastly overpriced and others are quite reasonable; I would advise checking the weight and not going by the size of the box! My faves are the Gianduja Hazelnuts, the vintage buttons and the hot chocolate with caramel. read more
