Prior to choosing this hotel I requested proposals from multiple hotels in Istanbul, but what made this so special was the view of The Bosphorus. I want to thank Mustafa and Gozde for being great in presenting, proposing, and answering the countless questions that I had about this property before our arrival. The hotel exudes class, modern facilities, and something for all types of travelers. From the moment you arrive at the hotel you feel safe. There is a security checkpoint for all vehicles and a metal detector in the lobby for all visitors. This made my group feel safe and prior to my arrival 2 of the members of my group were thoroughly impressed with the hotel and thanked me for choosing it. Our first night there we dined at Madhus as a welcome dinner. It is an Indian fine dining gastronomic experience that set the tone of our stay. The food was delicious, the presentation was excellent, and the service was impeccable. We all enjoyed our meal there and when you stay at this hotel you must dine here. All of us enjoyed our respective rooms. Whether they were the Swiss Advantage Garden View Room or Swiss Bosphorus View the rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The Purovel products in the bathroom were a good quality for a hotel. The housekeeping team kept our room clean and stocked upon request. We all had a great experience here. I would like to think that my group thought everything was amazing- the views of the Bosphorus, the hotel amenities, dining offerings from breakfast and fine dining at Madhus and 16 Roof were all excellent. From the lobby to the reception and concierge everything and everyone was delightful and extremely helpful. On behalf of my group, I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to return just so that I personally can use their tennis court.

Email the hotel got us a slightly cheaper rate than going online and ask for the 10% Rick Steve's discount. Paying cash entitles you to another 5% discount. The hotel desk workers, Serkan and Murat, were knowledgeable in English too. Booking three nights or more includes transfers to the airport. You might get a brief "Meeting" where Serkan or Murat might introduce you to tours, Bosphrous cruise, etc. Just hear out their briefing and chalk it up as a Turkish experience. They will also help you with any necessary bookings in another city and will help you print boarding passes as well. Overall, a nice hotel in the Old Town that is conveniently located to the attractions. Nice accommodations and friendly staff.

I block away is the Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace and there is a nice little street for shopping and eating right around the corner. So many quality options to choose from. I don't remember having anything bad. In fact, we had to refrain from stuffing ourselves so we could eat lunch elsewhere. It was my mistake booking through Priceline, I should have known better, but I certainly expected better service from a five star hotel. Management could care less about my predicament and consistently refused to make a phone call on my behalf. I spent an entire day on the phone with Priceline, who was willing to correct the situation, but unable to reach the appropriate staff As a result, I did not have the planned extra bedroom, Kitchenette or dining table (that I reserved and paid for!) and we had to make last minute arrangements. I have worked in hospitality for over ten years and can confirm that Hilton Bomonti is NOT hospitable.

Yet the hotel still charged us extra for the additional guests--with zero regard for the fact that the rooms were completely inadequate. Even worse, the rooms--and the hallways--were filled with a strong, nauseating smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms were supposedly non-smoking, but it was clear that nothing had been done to enforce or maintain that standard. If we had stayed longer, our young daughter would have gotten sick from the constant exposure to the smoke. It was that bad. The management was nowhere to be found, and the staff showed absolutely no concern or effort to fix anything. Every complaint was met with cold indifference. Not only were we forced to leave the hotel due to the conditions, but we are still fighting with the hotel to receive a refund for the remaining nights they failed to deliver on. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott name. It is run with no care for the guest experience, no attention to cleanliness or comfort, and absolutely no accountability. If you care about your health, your comfort, and your money--avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better options in Istanbul. This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had.

On the top floor, they have free breakfast for their guests which had a plethora of Turkish breakfast options and european options. The top floor also is a bar and has a really amazing view of the city. The only complaint I have about this hotel is that my friend and I needed twin beds and our travel agent told the hotel this; however, we show up and there was no twin beds available. Also, the heat in our room didn't work and after our long late flight, there was no one to fix this issue so we spent an hour trying to figure out the radiator. The manager didn't help out when we tried to ask for a partial refund (which they should considering we had struggled to find heat after our long flight).

The breakfast was pretty good but surprised by the surcharge for a Nescafe or even Turkish coffee. I would not recommend this hotel purely based on the staff that worked the reception desk, they ruined my experience but was there for work so barely had any down time.
