I was very impressed with the Hotel Central Restaurant. It was a very clean and spacious restaurant. Our table was situated right next to large windows overlooking the main square of Plzeň. This gave us a great view of the square as well as the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew while we were eating.
Our server was very friendly and did his best to accommodate and understand some of the strange requests/substitutions and questions of some of the members of our party. His patience was especially appreciated considering the language barrier and the borderline high-maintenance requests.
I started off with a hot chocolate as a part of my hot chocolate tour of Europe. The hot chocolate was pretty good and the plate with the huge pile of real whipped cream our server brought to the table made it even better. Hotel Central receives a 5th place ranking in the European hot chocolate competition.
There was quite a variety of meals from which to choose on the menu. I decided on the Pikantí vepřové nudličky se zeleninou v bramboráku, which is a dish of spicy pork pieces with peppers and other vegetables on a potato pancake. The potato pancake, the meat, and the vegetables were well prepared and my meal was full of flavor. I was very impressed with the size of the portions they served for each of our meals.
When I looked at the bill, which was in Czech Koruna, I did some quick math in my head in an attempt to convert it to dollars. The figure I came up with seemed to be way off, as I was thinking there was no way all of us could have ordered such large meals and drinks for such a minimal price. However, when I converted it again, the figure was the same!
Great food, great view, great service, and great prices! I would definitely recommend the Hotel Central Restaurant to anyone taking a tour of Plzeň. read more
