It was beautiful, chic and accommodating! There was a small table w/ chair, a desk area w/ chair, an electric kettle, mini bar, safe in the closet, iron and ironing board, and modern outlets for usb connections. My husband and I booked the whisky tasting event that takes place on the last Friday on the month (usually), and while booking that event they offered a room for an additional value which was too good to pass-up. The whiskey tasting was held in a private room, hosted by Ralf, the restaurant manager. There was a power point presentation to explain the making of whiskey, the history, and a description of each one. Each event has a theme and this particular event was "around the world", so we were able to taste quality whiskeys from Japan, Scotland, India, USA, Germany, etc. there was a fine meal served and paired with the whiskey courses as well, which was very lovely and made the evening even more enjoyable. When we arrived we were the only two Americans in the group and we felt a little out of place, but Ralf spoke English as well, and those other 8 strangers soon welcomed us like family - truly a fun night! The tasting was about €60/each, and the hotel room just another €65, which included a breakfast buffet as well (whole fruit, cold cereal, juices/coffee, pastries, deli meats, and eggs/bacon/sausage). I can't say enough how much my husband and I enjoyed our night at Barbarossahof! The staff was friendly and inviting and a bonus is the Irish pub directly across the street when you want additional night-caps. ;)

I was not informed, had no choice in selecting another room. Many rooms are bulk reserved (as normal for hotels, but they obligated the functioning a.c. units to those patrons. They have business hours with them closing at 2100 daily but still accommodate you by allowing you to call them at any hour of the night and instructions on how to retrieve the room key. I love how traditional the keys are, instead of key cards of actual keys! I loved that. I also appreciated how incredibly amazing the owner/boss was when our electricity went out in our room the first night. He actually came to our room and fixed the issue. The way they take care of you here is awesome! If you're still in the room, they won't bother you about room service but they will still clean your room daily! It's great. The breakfast they make every morning is so simple but SO DELICIOUS. They make in house croissants that are TO DIE FOR and provide only the best cuts of meats and cheeses. It's truly a traditional french breakfast and is so amazing. My husband is not a fan of simple breakfast like this but he really enjoyed the deliciousness and was so surprised at how amazing something so simple could be. I recommend this hotel to anyone coming through Kaiserslautern. Just be advised, there is no air conditioner (like anywhere here in the country) and there are no elevators! Which is great but SUCKS if you have 10+ bags to lug up three huge flights of stairs (which is the only reason i rated this 4 out of five) also the fact that there wasn't anyone to assist during this late night process.

Since there is no air circulation the rooms are breeding grounds for sickness. Many of the people I am here with got sick. Maybe it is related maybe it isn't. Rooms have poor lighting and very small beds. While most of the staff are friendly the bar tender is very moody. One moment he will take a card and one moment he says there is too much going on and it is cash only. I've been out west, I am from the west and if this is their try at the west they sadly missed the mark. Short story long find a better place closer to K-town (as us westerners call it). You will be glad you did.

I get there for a business trip and first they send me to a room that is already occupied by someone else. Then they give me a second room. The paper cups had dried wine stains that evidently a former guest had used. My bed cover had what I can only describe as a huge blood stain or wine stain or poop stain. The carpets were stained and smelled of old wet rags. Horrible place and terrible experience.
