In some aspects they were spot on. It's very quiet, it's *mostly* locals only. And the train station is a quick 10 minute walk from this hotel/b&b. But looking back I think Cinque Terre is a place where being a tourist is AOK. (I'll leave that for another review).
But know going in you are in a locals only town when staying here and this spot although close to the train station is not in Cinque Terre and you will need to take the train 20-30 mins to the different towns.
What we liked about this spot? It's clean, it's quiet, and the manager was super friendly. It was a modern spot to rest our heads for the night. Was the best the comfiest ever? No. Was the shower the biggest? No. In fact it was tiny. But we loved our stay here because it was cheap and it got the job done.
This spot is not for romance, but rather if you are doing an extended stay in the area and want to connect with locals and/or work in the area. Or if you want to stay outside of the hustle and bustle of Cinque Terra. If you are in it for the beauty of the countryside, I would skip this spot as this is in the heart of the city.
