I had always heard about Puerto Escondido (my parents visited in 1995) and so I was intrigued. I decided to rent a villa with an ocean view for my parents and I for a period of a week.. This place and its access to the somewhat 'private beach' was incredibly nice. Our experience and time here was above and beyond our expectations. The on site-maintenance staff and daily housekeeping did an excellent job; and the front desk, working as Concierge, came through, as I treated my mom to a massage. Maria arrived as scheduled and made my mom's time extra special! The on site restaurant, Espadin, give this place an extra touch. Incredible views with delicious food! Looking forward to coming here again, as Puerto Escondido has become my favorite destination in Mexico.

This place is the genuine article. Real authentic Mexico through and through. Puerto Escondido, unlike many Mexican beach towns, has forbade the construction of the sprawling resorts; the monstrosities that have ruined the Yucatán peninsula and Costa Rica. They have passed Federal preservation laws to protect its shoreline and quaint village roots. This was one of two hotels I stayed in and I will post a review of the other shortly. If you want to relax and immerse yourself in the México of 40 years ago, give this gem a try.

After our swim we headed to the restaurant/bar and ordered beers for our room and the bartender put in a large bucket with ice and gave us an opener. While my friends were staying here I went over to visit & went swimming in the pool several times. The pool area is nice & I loved the big waterfall that is next to the pool. It makes the best noise & almost drowned out all the banging & hammering while I was swimming in the pool :)) There is also a giant beautiful green Iguana that lives in the palm tree above the waterfall next to the pool. I saw him several times he's a real beauty. We ordered shrimp & chicken skewers from the restaurant while we were at the pool & they were ok. They have a Asian menu for some reason, weird. It's very cool that Oxxo is right next door to this hotel. It's easy to pop out of the pool & just walk next door & get beers. Lol My hubby took a walk thru the whole property & said they were building brand new casitas in the back with palapa roofs. They are very cute but they don't have a ocean view. The rooms in the main building by the pool area all face the ocean & everyone loves them. My friends loved it & said they would love to return in the fall when all the construction is finished. There are tons of shops right next to this hotel it's in a great location. The staff was very nice to us, it's now one of my fave hotels to visit in Port & go for a swim. I want to highlight that all the staff members were wonderfully kind, attentive, and truly welcoming. They are the ones who create a warm and pleasant atmosphere. However, in my personal opinion, the owners (one blonde and one with dark hair) showed a very rude attitude toward their own employees. Watching the way they interacted with them felt uncomfortable, and it affects the overall guest experience as well. Even when asking for a simple towel, they seemed bothered and didn't offer a basic greeting. As tourists, we look for kindness, good service, and friendly attention, and unfortunately that part was only found in the employees, not in the management. I hope this improves in the future, because the staff is excellent and deserves a better environment.

It's a quaint, mostly open air hotel centrally located on Zicatela Beach. The staff is friendly and the rooms are super cheap in price!! I paid $80 USD / night for a rooftop room with a large outdoor patio! Couple of things: only stairs, no elevator. Beds are not very comfortable. Toilets struggle to work. Jacuzzi in my 4th floor suite did not work. The outdoor bed was an air mattress and occasionally bird poop would be on the sheets. The door keys are very large and you have to use a key on both sides of the door which is odd. The restaurant/bar is pretty good. Deep Blue diving is located in the hotel making it easy on the hotel patrons.
