This place is fantastic. Honestly I would be willing to give the place 5 stars if it weren't for a few issues with the room, but they were very nice and the place is great so I'm going to say 4.5 stars.
PROS: We came in her a couple weeks ago for some skiing up in the mountains of Italy. We planned to stay for 4 nights but then ended up staying one extra night, because of scheduling and such, and really, they were very nice to accommodate us. Three of the people from our 10 person party had to leave at the time that we were planning on leaving, but the staff were nice enough to do a bit of a room shuffle, so they let my in-laws stay in that old room, and we moved to our in-laws room. Problem solved!
Also, the food here was top notch. All of the hotels up in the mountains of Val di Fassa or Val Di Fiemme are at least half board places. Why? Because you are probably skiiing all day, so what you want is some breakfast and and nice dinner, since you probably won't be around for lunch. That being said, the breakfast here was good stuff. Basic italian breakfast with toast, proscuitto and salami, jelly, jam, nutella, etc. They were even nice enough to make us a boiled egg every morning because I had asked for one the first morning. The dinner was also typical italian: buffet style starters as well as a second course AND dessert. And all the meals were fantastic. Absolutely delicious.
Where this place stands out is the spa area in the basement. First of all, the spa is gigantic. When you look at it from outside the door to get in, it seems like a decent size with a couple of small pools and places for people to sit, but that's about it. You actually have to go inside to appreciate just how large it is: two saunas, two turkish baths, a sun room, a hot shower room. There really is a lot of stuff in it. It's a great thing to be able to sit in a sauna after being on the slopes all day.
And, because we were there for la Befana, the owner of the hotel came into the dining hall during dinner and they did a raffle with gifts for the guests! How nice is that?! They must have handed out 20+ gifts which was really nice of them.
Now for the Cons, and to be fair there aren't that many. Our original room was up on the top floor in the corner, which has kind of a weird shape to it on the count of the fact that part of the roof of the place is in the room. It kind of felt like being in an attic. It wasn't bad because the room was cozy, but it was just not my favorite lay out. Also, our blowdryer was a bit broken, which again isn't a huge deal because my wife brings her own one pretty much every time we travel. The shower was a different story: it sort of worked, and the water wasn't hot for long so you had to take a very immediate shower, which I'm not very good at! These issues were remedied of course when we switched rooms on our last night, and we realized that everyone else's room was much nicer than ours! No big deal, we will know which room to go to next time! This is a great hotel (and the price was really great too) and I recommend staying here if you're in the area. read more
