We looked at the menu and decided we did not want to pay the tourist tax for their food. The room we had was very clean and tidy with plenty of character. The view was of the harbor between two buildings and down the street. We felt that for the price it was adequate but again more than we preferred to pay. At 10 euros cheaper this would have been a place we would return to. But the current rates we will look elsewhere.

We received the second floor suite with an excellent view of the harbor. The room was spacious, clean and....well....let me just say that whoever decorated this room had spent time in Graceland. The hosts were very courteous and helpful. The husband and wife have owned this establishment for 5 years. And while the hotel is in tip top shape the owners are a bit rustic. Which is good since personality goes a long way when traveling on the road. The husband speaks good English and was eager to make us feel welcome. We noticed they are not the least bit polished when it came to running the place. We thought that with 5 years under their belt things would be smoother....but, perhaps that's just the way it is. The wi-fi was not working during out stay because they said a storm blew through and the internet went out. The owner banged on the router, shrugged his shoulders and shook his head and said no wi-fi and that was it. The entire place is non-smoking but we soon learned that only applied to the guests. The owner smoked in the reception and the bar and a few of his friends also enjoyed the privilege. Non of this made any difference to us but just be forewarned, coming back to the room in the evening meant walking through smoke. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room. It is nothing to look forward to. But, still nice. We would stay here again as the value and comfort and location was about as good as it gets in Camariñas.

Primo location. Excellent view of harbor with balcony…read more Spotless room. Personable staff. Very reasonably priced. That should equal five-stars in my book. Manolo is a very exuberant fellow. To hear him tell it, his hotel is the best in Spain. We've never stayed in every hotel in Spain however, we have to give him his chops for his enthusiasm. He also wastes no time in telling you his brother's restaurant has the best hamburgers in all of Spain. And the best coffee and the best toast and the best..... I don't know if it's the best but it was good enough for us. We will stay here again.

5 Stars - Buen Camino, Gran Hotel!…read more From the moment I stepped into the grand, voluminous lobby after my long journey on El Camino, the Parador de Santiago de Compostela felt like a sanctuary. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere majestic, and every detail of this historic hotel radiated elegance. My room was spacious and serene--just what I needed for rest and reflection. The staff were exceptional, offering impeccable service with kindness and grace. Bravo to everyone at the Parador de los Reis Católicos--what a truly heavenly experience!

We were here for our Honeymoon in 2010 and this time, we walked here at the end of the Camino Ingles. One big change since our last visit was that our Superior room was upgraded to a Junior Suite, and with a view of the Cathedral Plaza! As this is one of the best Paradors in the system, everything her remained first class. Our breakfasts were fantastic, the historical walk arounds within the Parador were informative, the architecture was fascinating, the common areas were comfortable and relaxing, and the outdoor patio restaurant was a fun place to hang out. I had one little incident when a waiter accidently spilled sangria on me. I took it all with good humor, especially since the waiter was highly apologetic. Parador staff also offered to have the affected clothes washed, which were back in our room (with another apology and a few treats) within a couple hours. Being treated like royalty (especially when we're not) made our day. Gayle and I are already talking about another Camino, maybe the Portuguese Coastal Way. If we do, we have no doubt where we'll be staying again at the end of our Pilgrimage.

The bed was very comfortable, the products top-notch. The spa deserves a full review itself. The Thermal Club is adults only time, where you can spend a two hour block going between the sauna, the ice room, the steam room, and finally the shower rooms. Each shower is different. Then, after completing the circuits multiple times, proceed up to the fully glass-enclosed pool, where there are multiple different water features to pummel, massage, and relax you. Water beds, water jets, and water sprays make for a fun experience! We also spent several hours getting spa treatments, taking a thermal bath in the legendary healing waters of La Toja, getting massaged, wrapped, and facials. Afterwards, skin was so nice! This place is a destination in itself. Will worth the trip!
