Hostel Turku is a clean and well-run youth hostel open to all ages and offering accommodation from single to dormitory. Shared facilities like kitchen, bathrooms and showers are kept cleaner than at many hostels. Prices include linen and towel, but no breakfast (5,50 € extra). Nice choice of cereals, but on the whole a rather basic kind of buffet. I prefered buying cereals, yogurt and milk at the supermarket across the bridge and saved half the amount of money during my 3-night-stay. Do not forget to bring a padlock for the locker. But if you did you can buy one at the reception, where other useful items will be available as well (the hairdryer came handy!). As a really charming touch there are always moomin lollipops and sometimes even strawberries for free on the counter :o)).
The young ladies running that place are super nice and doing a great job. They will help you with anything you might need. No question will be left unanswered and you get a lot of great recommendations. Just be aware that the reception is closed between 11 am and 3 pm when the ladies do the cleaning. Check-in starts when the cleaning is done.
The location could not be better: just a 20-minute-walk from the train station and a 30-minute-walk from the bus station. Right across the street bus number 1 stops to take you to the bus station and even to the airport (3 € single ticket from the driver).
Best thing about Hostel Turku is the fact that it is a stone´s throw away from where steamboat Ukkopekka sets off to Naantali :o)! So close to river Aura, you will surely get addicted to strolling up and down its shores and to discovering fancy cafés and restaurants. A dozen restaurant ships will be waiting, too. Just go with the flow of Turku and drop anchor where ever you feel most comfortable. read more
