A dirty and miserable dump! Caused by the positive opinions in TripAdvisor we booked a room from this hostel hoping to get easily to the airport next morning after our tour in Castilla. It was a bad mistake. The room was so dirty, that I had to ask the receptionist if someone had forgotten to clean it. His answer was unbelievably shameless. He said the dust, the trash, the nuts and the black hair everywhere on the floors (including the shower corner) had come from our shoes and luggage. And we had only left our luggage in the room and then went downstairs immediately. The receptionist said he had cleaned the room himself and it was perfect after the cleaning. My ass, that really could not be true. The whole room was a worn-out, disappointing and filthy place, but it was the receptionist's behavior that was too much for us. We have traveled a lot, but have never met such a person working in a hotel or hostel. What an arrogant, unpleasant receptionist. Besides, he told us it is impossible to walk from the hostel to the airport, though it is clearly possible. He was simply not willing to do any effort for us. We left the same evening after booking a new room in a hostel near Plaza Mayor at the same price, which turned out to be a lovely, clean place with charming owners. We didn't bother to ask our money back from the Hostal Avenida Barajas. Don't believe any positive opinions of it, I do not know who is writing them. read more
