This place used to be great but I don't know if there's been a change of ownership but the prices are ridiculously expensive.

This was a fun thing to do on a rainy day in Lake George. There were many stores that interested my…read moreother half and I. In particular, we located some great finds at the Columbia outlet, Orvis, etc. The wife located some hard-to-find Nike's in the various sneaker outlets, as well. For the most part, the stores are clean, well-kept, and feature a good selection. Some of the sales were excellent and we couldn't pass them up. The traffic getting in and out can be challenging, and we sat in said traffic for about a half mile given that the road is single lane in each direction and the stores get crowded. If you plan for this, you should be fine. Nothing to do or a rainy day? Don't miss this one.

The four outlet shopping centers are located within walking distance of each other, so you can park once and shop all day. Parking is free and plentiful, while pedestrian crosswalks make it safe and easy to zigzag across Route 9 in search of the latest bargains. Yes, half of the stores are across the busy road so you can road is diving this outlet in two parts. It is located just off Exit 20 of the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and only two miles south of Lake George Village. Each center has public restrooms, an ATM machine, and vending machines filled with cold drinks. Tip: don't be confused, While this entire half-mile strip is referred to as "The Outlets", there are currently four distinct centers: Adirondack Outlet Mall, French Mountain Commons, Log Jam Outlet Center and The Outlets at Lake George East and West. Spend your day perusing the miles of aisles at this massive shopping complex on State Route 9 in Lake George.

There's a new place in the food court (Salty Dogs) and a second looks about to open up. Dick's, Healthy Living, JC Penney and Homework seem to be doing good business. And--important--the mall is clean and well maintained. There are even live plants in the public spaces. Still, the glory days of the mall (and malls in general) seem to be over. Bon Ton, the movie theater and Sears are gone for good. But Wilton Mall seems to be holding on. Maybe it's not a bad idea to turn the former Bon Ton area into an apartment complex, a controversial proposal. We could be like underground Montreal, living our lives out in the harsh winter without ever venturing outside. I come here to get my steps in when the weather keeps me from walking outside. Two circuits will do you nicely, and just one will give you some healthful exercise. Just watch out for the ubiquitous skinny guy on the posters who reminds us that mall going used to be a madcap social experience. Update: Yelp seems not to want to show my picture of the skinny on posters. Not sure why this is controversial. Walk the mall and see for yourself.
