No evidence of concern for his pain and zero checks to see how he was doing. We're on your 6 of sitting here and watching the attendants avoid our gazes. Be prepared to pay, wait, and be ignored. Alfredo was the only shining light and seemed to be the only person who understands customer service. He mans the international reception desk and was the only one who really tried to help. Sadly, I have to give 1 star to the hospital. We were on vacation in Cancun are and our toddler needed in urgent care assistance - he had blood coming out of his mouth (which was very scary - I'm sure every parent will understand - especially in a foreign country). He was also generally unhappy and fussy for a couple of days prior to that. It also felt like he has fever. Seeing the blood makes you have to think very quickly! After a quick research, we found Galenia - it was highly recommended by multiple sources, including this Yelp page. Of course, we went there and our son was admitted in the ER. He was seen about 30-40 minutes after we came in, which was acceptable. Luckily there was no new blood coming our of our son's mouth... We were told in advance that we would need to pay around $350 for ER services. It felt like extremely high for Mexico, but we didn't have a choice so we decided to stay and wait. When a nurse was ready to see us, turned out they DON'T have any pediatrician on staff at the moment. Whoops! Well, ok, a "regular" doctor should suffice since it's an emergency for us. Hopefully the doctor will apply common sense to the situation. The nurse has taken vitals from our son... Another 20 minutes and the doctor came. He spent about 5 minutes looking at our son and concluded that the blood in the mouth may be related to an extreme allergic reaction to pineapples that our son was eating when that happened. Nothing life-threatening. Ok - good to hear! There was also fever and the doctor concluded that it'll just go away and nothing needs to be done, outside of giving him fever reducing medications. We got a few medications prescribed. Paying $354 for that felt a little high, but that's alright, we've taken the time from someone else's time in the Emergency Room, so it's understandable. Next thing I did is picking up the prescribed medicine. It wasn't very cheap, but that was ok... Fast-forward to the late evening of the same day; I'm unpacking the medicine and seeing that each of the 3 different medicines that the doctor has prescribed are strongly NOT recommended to be taken for children under 3 years old - it said that straight up on the package. Yikes! Well, we are definitely not giving that to our son. The doctor hasn't mentioned anything about it. Chances are, he just does not know what can and can not be prescribed to children, since he is not a pediatrician... We avoided giving the medication to our son. However, his condition wasn't improving much. Three days later, we arrived back into the US, went straight to our pediatrician. Turns out, our son has (1) thrush, and (2) ear infection. Thrush was bad. Ear infection was REALLY BAD. We had to be taking two different types of antibiotics for the length of 25 days afterwards for it to treat! I wish the doctor would look into the ears, which I know pediatricians normally do when children have fever, and notice that it's REALLY BAD. None of the medications were originally prescribed to treat neither thrush nor ear infection. And of course, our pediatrician confirmed that the medicine that was prescribed would make our son ever more miserable if we gave it to him, since it wasn't made for toddlers. The doctor was just NOT qualified to see our son. What a waste of money and time; it made our lives truly MISERABLE for the following 2-3 weeks. I wish they had a pediatrician on staff to see kids; or were upfront about it so that we had time to go to a ER that would have one. Be on the look out for that, and definitely try to find an urgent care somewhere else first if it's not a life-threatening situation, since this place charges tourists an arm and a leg. read more

My brother had a massive heart attack and was taken to this hospital. His friends had to pay $10,000 or they would not treat him. Two days later, they did the same to us! We had to pay the doctor $5000. My brother had traveler's insurance and Blue Cross Blue Shield national and international, but this place demanded cash. The ambulance airlift cost $18,000. They gave us NO assistance with transportation to the airport. The doctor told us he sent all the medical documents and test results to the doctors in the United States, but he never did! We had to liquidate assets and max out every credit card our family members have. NEVER go to this place!! If you have to deal with a man named Luis, run like hell. We took her there by taxi. The first thing in the door was "how are you going to pay" We have good insurance. It re imburses us. I called her physician in the states. CT and Blood work. Hydrate with a drip. This f...ING place wanted 390 for the doctor to look. Fine. The doctor was a Qwack. MAYBE not even a doctor. Recommended EKG. I'm surprised he didn't say with a D5W . His knowledge was from Hollywood. I worked as a fireman.. He finally posture, like he was the president and said,, I will order CT after you put down a deposit of 3,000. This place didn't have the capability of doing anything except maybe...maybe handling a cough. They stole her most important hours of recovery in an attempt to extort money. The guy that comes out to translate is probably the owner, making things up and trying to sound important with his knowledge of laws that don't even apply there. He's always doing you a favor, the problem is there is no action toward medical attention only attempts to take your money. After 4hours of this crap we left. I flew my wife to Houston ASAP. PLEASE READ!!! This place is the absolute worst. My mother in law suffered a stroke in our hotel, after having to take a taxi to this hospital hoping to get her immediate care. They took their sweet time when we got there even getting her in to see a doctor. They didn't take the fact she was having clear signs of a stroke (my father and I are both EMT certified and know the clear signs) serious what so ever. The first question asked upon entering was whether we were okay with paying a $400 upfront fee just for the consultation. Then after 1 hour the doctor decided she needed anEKG. They argued with us and wouldn't do anything unless we agreed to pay first. She didn't need an EKG, but a CT scan to confirm the stroke. It wasn't until 2-3 hours later they finally figured out she might have had a stroke they wanted to do the CT. This cost $3000 and that wasn't even admitting her into the hospital or helping her. The lack of urgency and knowledge showed in this hospital. It was awful. My mother in law had to wait to get flown back normally and is having to undergo therapy to try and regain speech back. This place does not care about your health, only your money. I don't even think they had the means to help her if she did have a stroke they would have just taken our money and left her with permanent deficits from their carelessness and greed. If I could give 0 stars I would. Be safe when you travel and do not go here what do ever!!! The guy who claims to want to help you with insurance, is very condescending and likes to use HIPAA and scenarios that don't apply to your situation to manipulate you and tell you that you don't know what care your family member needs! This is supposed to indicate a five star rating . This hospital is outstanding. My wife was experiencing severe shoulder pain and we visited with Dr Marino. Dr. Marino is very competent and speaks English quite well. Dr. Marino explained the complexity of the shoulder joint as well as the surrounding muscles, ligaments etc.. Erica at the reception counter was very nice and spoke impeccable English. Erica filled out the necessary forms and was kind enough to highlight the area that we needed to fill out. I'm very pleased with the service and amount of concern that these fine people displayed during this stressful situation. This hospital is approved and certified by the US and Canada. The hospital is very clean and has all required modern equipment should the need arise. I hope that nobody else needs to visit a hospital during your vacation but if you do, this is the read more

Mierda por esto hospital. These scumbags tried to charge me $355 for a consultation and then $1000 as a partial payment in order to have a cyst lanced and drained. I broke my left tibia and fibula while on vacation in Cancun. We went here for treatment and although the staff was very nice and they spoke English well, this was by far the most expensive hospital visit I have ever had! I saw a Dr in the ER and had 2 x rays of my leg and was told I had to see an orthopedic doctor to get my leg casted. And seeing a specialist is a whole other charge- $1300.00! Like I said earlier, they couldn't have been nicer, but every thing they do costs. And outrageous prices! Over three hundred dollars for crutches! And no one showed me how to use them. I was casted from my toes to my hip and it was ridiculous that they thought I could use crutches- I couldn't move my left leg it was so heavy. When they casted my leg they charged for each thing they used resulting a six hundred dollar cast! And I have insurance and insurance that will cover international hospitals, but we paid in cash for everything! Over all we spent over $5000.00 on 4 hours in the ER?! And what were my home instructions? Go to an ER as soon as you get off the plane because you need surgery. What did I pay for my ER visit in the states you ask? Yeah, $200.00.
