She was started on some muscle strengthening exercises, given some tender love and care, and not only did she make it through the weekend, but she walked about a month later for the first time in a long time, and lived almost 7 months after receiving such initial devastating news. The small number of people in each home makes it easy to visit and the atmosphere is more home-like. I feel sure that Kendra's care extended her life because she personalized everything about her care, getting her up to keep walking, and learning and addressing her needs. We did have occasional concerns about other staff and our concerns were always addressed satisfactorily. Nellie and Joy were also good; unfortunately I don't know all of the other names. We moved Mom to 4 Seasons during the pandemic, which was scary, but it turned out to be the right thing. We are very grateful.

She had been in several horrible, neglectful homes (although we thought we were being very selective) and we had begun to wonder if every place knew the spin to give but kept none of their promises.. until we found this home. We had taken her out of another private home nearby, because she had developed level 4 bed sores there, lost a lot of weight (they blamed her, by the way), and the resident dog, which reeked of cigarette smoke (despite swearing it was a smoke-free environment), was allowed to jump up on her and tore my grandmother's fragile skin several times.. but I digress. This house was a completely different situation, but it was the reason we found her new hospice home. I can't recommend them highly enough. We loved her very much, and were determined not to abandon her or let our own personal lives push her to the periphery. They allowed us to visit my grandma any time 24/7, and it was clear she was being well cared for. Many of her bed sores closed, despite her being very rigid -- which means limited ability to redistribute weight. The staff all developed relationships with her, and tried to include her in activities as much as possible; they learned what she liked and enjoyed spoiling her. Whenever we came in, they were welcoming, and accommodating and gave us detailed updates on how she had been doing that day. The night before she passed, they allowed me to spend the night by her bed, holding her hand. They told me what to expect -- with compassion -- and cried along with us when she passed. I could not have asked for more. They helped us through an emotionally painful yet sacred transition, which we all one day will face.
