Fabulous street market in Brasil!…read more Here you will find many vendors set up displaying their goods in fresh produce in fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, spices, herbs, condiments, oils, flowers, plants, and made to order food such as tapioca crepe pancakes, sugar cane juice, pastels, even some clothing / accessories, and more! Vendors are friendly and welcoming. Everything I tried here was muito bom! If I had visited this place sooner during my stay, I would have bought some fruits to bring back to the place I was staying. Be sure to bring a reusable bag to add your goods in and I would say... sun protection (I went in Summer - it was hot and the sun was beaming). Also recommended to come on an empty stomach to try some of the hot food vendors. A few of my favorites was the freshly made sugar cane juice (tried two ways - one pure sugar cane juice and the other I squeezed lime juice and then the sugar cane juice was poured into my cup); trying fruits I typically haven't tried or eat at home like acerola (which contains more vitamin c than 1 orange), seriguela, jaca (jackfruit - only had as vegan tacos), caju (cashew), and ones I know but were delish - mangas (mangos), caqui (persimmon); queijo coalho (salty cheese from Northeast Brasil) and queijo canastra (sharp cheese from Minas Gerais); last but not least loved the tapioca pancake I had filled with queijo! (they offer many other types of fillings - from savory to sweet!) I can't wait to be back here again :D

All this for a very reasonable price, better than any possibility around this area and even competitive with regards to prices in suburban areas of Rio. I highly recommend this shop. They even offer a delivery service, although you need to buy more than 50 reais in Ipanema and 70 reais in Leblon to qualify for delivery. The box containing 67 peanut butter sweets (paçoca) is by far my favourite. I always need to have a one of those at home. They also sell the diet chocolate bar to make diet sweets, which costs a fortune elsewhere, even though it is not particularly cheap, it's definitely the cheapest in town.
