Everything was cozy. I loved the warm room and natural light let in by the large skylights. Because it's couple-y, I suppose, there was no phone in the room. When we wanted to book sea kayaking, the owner made the phone call for us. The two rooms labeled "Forest View" are in a building separate from the main one. A storage room is between the two, so it was totally quiet and felt all to ourselves. I really didn't mind not having the Ocean View. We could still hear it, or go out to the common deck or down to the beach. The Great Room where breakfast is served has a wonderful view, and has a telescope for birdwatching. It opens to the deck with a hot tub, and stairs down to the private beach. See photos and descriptions on their very thorough website. They also have winter rates for the storm watch season! Free Wi-Fi in the Great Room (which, I suppose, might reach the rooms in the main building).

However, none of these rivalled the warmth and hospitality of Sue and Drew, the wonderful couple that own and run the establishment - and their funny and social dog, Malcolm. Without them, the Inn would just be another inn. While this is definitely a romantic spot suitable for couples, I visited with a friend and it was just as enjoyable. The Inn is in a super location, private, yet close to the Wild Pacific Trail and within walking distance of the town of Ucluelet and its restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway in Ucluelet!

We were at that one right by the beach and it's awesome. The upper floor belongs to owners (but they don't live there) and the lower one is all yours. And the owners are cool and very friendly and nice. There are entrance hall, two bedrooms, living room (including dining room), kitchen, bathroom (bathtub and shower corner), sun room, terrace and all of these are pretty big. And the beach is approximately 15 meters away, just walk through garden and you are there. Everything is fully equipped and furnished. No TV. Perfect. Beach is big, clean and ideal for surfers rookies. Price reflects awesomeness of this place. And you are in the centre of Tofino in 5 minutes by car.

It just so happens that my parents and I were the first guests of the current owners (the charming Todd and Lynda) after they took over in 2003. I cannot overstate how great Todd and Lynda are, and what a great job they do to make this place feel like home. We always rent the self-catering Garden Cottage, so I can't vouch for the breakfasts, but something tells me they're scrumptious. The cottage doesn't have a view of the ocean, but you're 30 seconds away, and the two suites in the main B&B building certainly do - and stunning ones at that. Plus, you're on Chesterman Beach, by far my favourite beach on the Pacific Rim, after 2 decades escaping out there whenever I can. I quite simply cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

I am proud to review this splendidly wonderful little B&B they call the Willow Guest House…read more Before I begin the review, I think it is imperative that I preface it with a small but relavent note about myself. I am a well traveled person however, for all intent and purposes, I am very much a city guy. And being so, have a particular disposition regarding the finer things in life; the little but important conveniences of nicer living. So I would comfortably say that I have high expectations when it comes to accommodations and anything I plan to pay for or during a vacation. So having traveled a great deal, I have experienced a wide spectrum of quality in services and accommodations throughout the world. I am extremely pleased to say that I have never experienced any accommodations quite like the one at the Willow Guest House. In short, it truly felt like I was coming home. My biggest apprehension when it comes to B&Bs is the imbalance most B&Bs have between the business and the home. Either it is too business like with the warmth and homely coziness of The Adams Family or too much home and not enough business which leaves for rather awkward interactions and no sense of privacy. The Willow Guest House has this balanced magnificently. Never once did I feel like an intruder or awkward. Warren and Dee (the owners) are the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. The moment my girlfriend and I stepped into their home, it felt like we were family. It was quite remarkable actually. Their rare ability to be unconditionally welcoming and genuine is so refreshing that I found myself wishing our trip was longer than two nights! They are a perfect team and care so much about their B&B that every single detail towards excellence is considered. I would come back and stay at their brilliantly wonderful B&B any chance I can get. In fact I wish every hotel in Whistler would take some notes of what true hospitality and comfort is. This is undeniably the BEST BED AND BREAKFAST I have EVER had the pleasure of visiting. You will not be disappointed when you book with Warren and Dee. They are a true gem.

While travelling on business recently, my husband realized that not so much as a garden shed was available in Courtenay because of a large influx of visitors for the BC Seniors Games. Through the Chamber he found the only room in the whole area and that was only because of a last minute cancellation. The hosts were divine, the room was lovely, the price was right and breakfast was amazing. He had such a nice time. They have two upstairs rooms with a full kitchen and living area for guests... you can cook your own food, hang out and watch TV and then go down to the hosts kitchen for a made to order breakfast. Five stars just for the home made granola!

Most importantly, Joe was an incredible host! We had rented a car for the weekend to drive from the ferry to Tofino and back, but when we wanted to leave on Sunday after checking out off the hostel, we found out that the wipers weren't working (it was raining a lot). Joe then invited us to stay as long as we had to wait and even called the car rental company to make sure they found a solution so that we could go back. We ended up having a great afternoon sitting in the kitchen, drinking coffee, and chatting with him. He's such a warm and friendly person, I'd recommend this place to everyone who plans to visit Tofino.

I will never recommend this place... For the following reasons…read more 1. The owner( nick) is very judgemental. Staying at his guesthouse felt like your soffocated. He negatively criticizes the whalers on the point grey saying the whalers are corrupt and don't give money back to clients that cancels. Well in fact it is not true, when I canceled they were happy to assist me and give me no hassle. 2. The guest house have curfew , that the living room needs to be emptied by 11pm and everyone must be extremely quite. 3. If you bring your car, you must put your keys in their common box, which I find very invading in privacy. Did I say "MUST", yes! It's a must to place your car keys at their common box. 4. They only serve waffles every single morning!,, waffled out when I stayed there for 4 days!! 5. The owners helper don't provide food and salary to his helpers which I find very abusing to someone who is in need of accommodation. This guy( the owner) is taking advantage of international students. 6. When I canceled my last night of stay, the owner was extremely mad and told me off. I didn't even confirm my last night of staying there, but he said he have refused customers bec. He was saving my bed space. I find it very strange bec. Check out tie is at 4:30pm and when I told him I'm not staying for additional night, he was madly pissed. 7. The house is so cramed that you have to pass tru the bathrooms in order to get to your bed space, it's discusting, bec he does not allow people to wear house slippers and just before you enter your room, you must pass tru the bathrooms!! Yikes!! 8. The dish cloths are beyond the word disgusting. 9. Don't leave water bottles within the house bec. Somebody will try to put something in there that will make you NAUCIOUS!!!.be superly cautios!!! 10. Lastly the owner is very pretentious portraying himself to be so calm and collected, but his freaking greedy... Ps. When I arrive early he was so annoyed that he told me to come back at 7:30am and he wouldn't let me in..even though I missed my first day of reservation!, So piece of advice to my fellow travellers, no matter how desperate you are finding a hostel in tofino, don't dare to even call nor check this hostel. Trust me you will be in safe hands if you just stayed at Whallers where you feel safe, comfortable and would really feel the tofino atmosphere!,

Nick and Erica have transformed their home into part bed and breakfast/hostel and part home. They live upstairs and there are 2 or 3 private rooms with a lock and private bathrooms, as well as a bedroom with 5 bunks and a communal bathroom for them to share. There is a communal kitchen with fridge and cupboard space allotted for each room - this is a huge money savings! They cook a fresh salmon dinner for guests on Wednesday night for a nominal price ($5 maybe?) and they could not be more gracious about welcoming all travelers into their home. We stayed in a private room so we had the luxury of privacy, with the companionship that you find in a hostel. It was right by the water with a great deck/view and you had full use of the grill and two rental bikes. This is such an amazing find and we highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Tofino (which you should do!).

The MUP (multi-use path) runs right past the driveway, so regardless of how you plan to get around while you're here, the cabin's location makes it easy to do. You're also within easy walking distance of Mackenzie Beach, the Botanical Gardens, and Tofino Brewing Company. A slightly longer hike will get you to the Tofitian (for coffee/tea) and Tacofino, one of my favorite places to eat on the peninsula. Size-wise, I'd recommend the Cottage for one or two people there's just one bed and one bathroom; if you need more space, there's Heron House (2bed, 2bath) next door. The cottage has a full kitchen, replete with basic cookware and utensils, though the stove is a little anemic. The washer/dryer came in very hand on the many rainy days we went out hiking anyways and came back wet and muddy and needed to dry our things! The couch in the living room is oriented so that you can sit and watch the tides ebb and flow through Tofino Inlet, just below the cottage, or you can hike down at low tide and explore the intertidal mud flats yourself! All said, Heron Cottage has been an excellent place to spend our time in Tofino -- close enough to everything we want to do, yet despite neighbors, secluded enough to give us the peace and quiet we cherish.
