I danced so much and got to meet many wonderful artists. I def will be back next year and make a whole weekend out of it. I live nearby but I think, next year I'll stay a few days in SB. My mom is already looking forward to it!

I managed to walk through the Mission plaza and enjoyed over 150 huge, colorful chalk paintings by various artists on the pavement. It was a free public event with live music and food vendors. The Mission Rose Garden was the open field in front of the church. It is a great place for picnic or just laying down to enjoy the sun.

This place is church for people who hate going to church…read more Awesome place to attend particularly if you want no part of attending a church, had a bad past church experience, or are being dragged by a significant other, spouse or friend. It has a kick butt kids programs, and seems to have many athletic people who attend. Its biblically based without all the wacky stuff. The pastor is a super cool every day easy to relate to guy. He provides a powerful message and has developed the kind of atmosphere where you don't feel judged. Its the kind of place for imperfect people to meet other imperfect people and try and do life together. Worth checking out. At the very worst, you're out an hour of time and you"ll have a few laughs when the pastor Jon Ireland speaks. Not to mention he'll get you to think, without doing any thing thats just straight weird. Check it out!

They even have Holy Water "on tap" on either side of the church, which I was able to take some home with gratitude. I was petrified they had destroyed it . I was so relieved to see it was in tact . As far as Mass, it's in the same state of disrepair that it has been for 50 years . I did attend the daily Mass by the Salesian , who is leaving , and I was really surprised in a food way . I've attended the Sunday Mass several times and it's sheer chaos . I pray for the pastor . There's an overabundance or extraordinary ministers and deacons but that's par today . There have been those who have complained about it not being welcoming . I get that . There seems to be a one-sided welcoming environment. The standard disorder is omnipresent , people lifting up their hands every 3 seconds ; standing when they should be kneeling and the music is very "Me" oriented . Unfortunately this is all a result of the grave lack of catechesis in the last 50 yrs . That's why I don't want to hear anymore about the lack of understanding or reverence for the Eucharist . That education needs to come from the priest . As does the appropriate direction for the Mass . I doubt that is going to happen unless they get another associate . It's the clericalization of the laity and the laication of the clergy . Please don't believe there are no priests . I know of several religious order priests who'd come to OLS eg. VI , FSSP, CM .

We discovered this church almost 4 years ago and have attended every since. The greeters are so welcoming. The child care staff truly care about your kids. There is a lot of love and thought put into the children's ministry. Our pastor is young, but full of wisdom and very relatable. When it comes to the music, our worship team pours their soul out to today's current Christian hits by bands like Hillsong United. We are very happy here. The spirit overcomes me every week.

(This does not reflect on the pastoral side.) They have a nice courtyard outside their medium-sized space as well as a less-well-appointed building which might have a little bit more space lacks the architectural grace and courtyard. If security is an issue, the courtyard is wrapped with an iron gate and access can be controlled at one entry point. Less ideological/religious dogma attaches to this venue, obviously, so it is pretty much the default for more secular ceremonies. Depending on the price and terms you can negotiate, suitable.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly faces, coffee and a box of donuts. Everyone was welcoming and genuinely kind. The sense of community was very real. Pastor Bobby was great. His message was thoughtful, well-prepared, and insightful. You could tell he cares deeply about the people he's speaking to and Jesus. He graciously offered for my wife to take home a free Bible from the stands. A Bible which we treasure. We're thankful we had the opportunity to visit and experience the church, even if it was just for a weekend. If you're in the Santa Barbara area and looking for a church, it's definitely worth stopping by.

So my mother went to a little church that was run by nuns and prayed for a little girl and low and behold, they got their wish. (Wait...wait...wait for the moment....awww). Joking aside, I have a special place in my heart for nuns...well...some nuns...not like Sister Ellen from highschool who you would try to avoid saying hello to, (Yet her penetrating gaze made sure you would look up with a smile...well on second thought, maybe her too) I needed to go on a sabbatical by myself and I found a lot of peace in this little church. I had to drive far but I had been going through a lot of inner turmoil in my life, I even went to a 730 mass. What I found charming about this monastery was the simplicity of the place. The nuns were barefooted and their voices were so clear when they sang. Was I intrigued? Yes. After mass if you have an intention to leave behind, go next door. There's a door where you can write down your intentions, ring the bell, and a nun will open up the door and take your intentions. They don't ask for money, they don't ask for donations. You give what you want. At one point someone gave them a carton of eggs and it was received with thanks. A month before my visit my sister had visited them. She had written down her name and address. They wrote her a thank you note and that they would pray for her. Sometimes it's not the miracles, it's not the expectations that a higher power will answer, sometimes it's the simple acknowledgement and comforting words that a stranger could give you that inspires faith.

After trying a few of the larger churches in town (Reality, Calvary, SB Community), we found CPC. The preaching is fantastic with a strong focus on the Bible and the congregation is warm and welcoming. This is definitely a church to visit if you're looking for a church. It's also a great place if you want to learn more about Jesus Christ in a warm, friendly, and open environment.

I've seen Our Lady of Mount Carmel countless times while visiting my husband's family in Montecito…read more It's a knock-out church, both beautiful and distinctive. You can't pass by it without looking. I got to go inside one Sunday last month for our nephew's christening. Turns out it is also gorgeous on the inside. This was eight days after we became fully vaccinated, and the christening became a bookend to our reemergence into society--after over a year in lockdown, the prior week had begun with a funeral, and included both a rehearsal dinner and a wedding. The christening was small, maybe twenty people total, all of us wearing masks except the new baby and our son, his slightly older cousin. The priest performed a brief ceremony--words were said, the supremely chill baby was baptized--and we took some pictures (we were allowed to remove masks for these). I don't know what it's like to attend as a regular congregant, but I found the church extraordinarily pretty and impressive. Whether you're looking for God or beauty, I'd recommend a visit to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
