Hope Reins opened in 2010 with one rescued horse and now has a site on 38 acres with seventeen rescued horses. There are two ponds, trails and a 4000 sq ft log cabin on what was once a cattle farm. They take in rescue horses that were abused and neglected. Hope Reins then pairs a troubled child with a horse. The children have faced some kind of trauma, which could be the death of a parent, neglect, violence, or sexual abuse.
The services provided are completely free. They work on building trust and providing a safe environment for these children and their families. The horses bond with the children and start the process of healing. The horses have been through difficult situations, too. In the past 15 years, they have helped 2,200 children through donations.
The facility is open for tours once a month; details are on their website. And if you know a child needing their services, there is an application form on the website as well. read more
