The Praise team was high energy and sounded good. The greeters were pleasant, welcoming and efficient. I was most amazed by the predominantly young adult congregation. They were carrying their bibles and fully engaged during the service. It was not a "traditional" worship experience. The music is loud and the energy is high. Overall, it was a wonderful experience as it had all of the necessary components, bible-based message, praise, prayer and good music. Come early, parking by the church is limited, overflow parking is at a shopping center down the street. However, there is a shuttle if needed. Well done, Pastor Greene and church family.

It's not my flavor of worship, so we didn't stick around for services. Little Zion's origins in the 1830s place it among the earliest African American worship communities in what was then the rural edge of Fairfield District, long before Blythewood existed as a named place. After the Civil War, the shift to independent Black congregations was both theological and political. Churches like Little Zion became the first institutions fully controlled by African Americans in the area, and they quickly became centers of education, mutual aid, and community governance. The front reads, "The congregation at Little Zion dates to c. 1832, when enslaved individuals worshipped in white-controlled churches. After emancipation, these former slaves founded independent congregations like this one. A group led by Doctor Entzminger purchased the land where the church now stands c. 1886. In earlier years services were held under a brush arbor." And the reverse, "Later, a frame sanctuary was built. In the past 130 years, Little Zion has had only five pastors. The longest pastorate was Rev. Abraham Chandler, who served for fifty years from 1887-1937. Under the leadership of Pastor Eddie W. Davis, the newest edifice was built in 1995 and added land was purchased. In 2016, a part of Winnsboro Hwy. was named for him in honor of all his accomplishments and service as pastor since 1983." It is marker number 40-201 and it was erected in 2017 by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, sponsored by Little Zion Baptist Church. You will laugh, be convicted, and strengthened all at the same time! They have different classes downstairs for your kids to attend while you worship in the main worship area upstairs free from distractions that kids can definitely cause! Lol! The classes range from infant to kindergarten age. They have a easy sign in process for the kids at a little laptop which after entering your kids info, it'll print out stickers where one you'll stick on your child that identifies their name, age, and class and the other sticker is identical that will go to the teacher. You also get 2 other stickers that you must show when picking up your kids, which keeps the safety for your kids so some random person can't take off with your kid(s). The worship is refreshing and they sing a lot of contemporary Christian songs that is easy to sing along to, and they also have projector screens that show the words just in case someone doesn't know. It's a multicultural church and they are big into mission work. I could go on and on but overall it's a wonderful church to be a part of!
