My husband was transported there from a rehab hospital. It was the BEST thing we ever did. The facility was beautiful and each room had a screened in porch so you could take your loved outside if it was nice. The nurses were compassionate and explained what they were doing and what to expect. The facility was painted a pale yellow and was very peaceful and restful. You felt at peace in the hospice building. My husband has been gone a week and hospice called and ask if there was anything they could do and said they would call again in three weeks. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH. read more

My grandfather was only here for a very short time but nurse Steve was absolutely wonderful start to finish. He was professional, explained things well, lightened the mood when appropriate, and provided the best possible experience during an unfortunate time. We also really liked the security guard. They tried to scam me and try to make me sign paperwork that says I was responsible for payment of services, but they were telling me it was free. Why would I sign some thing that apply just need to make a payment. Why would they have that in there if it is in fact, free? The man seems like a scammer. He said OK you don't have to sign that I'll get you a paper copy it will cross it out and initial it. He went to get the papers and never came back, but I still wasn't signing that either because that doesn't hold up. He's in no position to change contracts, so I felt like I was being scammed at the hospital in front of my dying cousin. read more

My mother was received services from Hope Hospice for 4 months and they were unbelievable. Great services offered- from special mattress, comfort pillow with a recording from loved one, Chaplain visits, music therapy, coordinated nursing care..... and as I was driving home from work a woman called from Hope offering grief counseling! Hope Hospice explains services and maintains wonderful communication with patient families. The grief counseling contact was so right on in understanding, providing examples of responses to death which I thought were just specific to me and crazy, and even providing some practical steps in working through the process...One was a word picture of moving through grief as a wave...the other, choosing your focus. The counselor was fabulous! I am so very grateful for Hope Hospice services, how they cared about my mom... enjoyed my mom.... and continued to care about the family by how they checked in with me. read more

Nurses and assistants were rude. They repeatedly told us we should leave and just let our loved one die. I think he lived longer than they expected. We didn't bring him there to die alone, we brought him there because of what should be the Hospice mentality. One nurse even got heated yelling at me when I asked for oatmeal for him telling me I just need to accept that he was dying. Well, he was still asking for oatmeal and able to eat so guess what? He got oatmeal. When her supervisor overheard this all she could do was cry to me because she doesn't like conflict. Not impressed whatsoever. Get it together for your patients as well as their families. I know firsthand that this is not supposed to be the way families are treated. read more

Horrible care. Being a cancer patient and in lots of pain they have done nothing to rectify the situation. Was doing great and t THEY make the decision to change my medication. Now I have been couch locked for 3days. My quality of life has diminished in just a few weeks. Mind you they put me on a stronger medicine that I felt like I did not want. Now that Chapters Healthcare of Tampa affiliated with Hope Hospice, it has gone down hill fast. They recently cut 80 employees and increased the nurse to patient ratio from 4:1 to 6:1 at the inpatient units. They closed the cafeterias in the inpatient houses and feed patients frozen meals. The doctors there do not know how to manage symptoms well, causing patients undue suffering. The staff are so burned out and cannot provide proper care for the patients or their families. Now that Vitas is in Lee County, I would definitely give them a try. read more

My mom had hospice at home in another county. She was transferred to a nursing home in Lee County. She/we knew her time was limited and requested hospice care in this nursing home. Hope Hospice said she did not qualify. She died alone in the nursing home a week later. How do you qualify 6 months previously with another hospice group but not qualify with Hope Hospice and then die a week later???? read more

Hope Hospice is a great organization that takes care of people when the end and is near. I stop by the North Fort Myers / Cape Coral location to say hello to my mother who is RN there. But this is not just a bias review, since I have lost several family members in the past few years. DO NOT USE HOPE HOSPICE!! My mother entered Hope hospice 8 days ago. Day 1 a nurse showed up 4 hours late with my mother's pain meds and said a nurse would come tomorrow to change her catheter. No nurse called or showed up so I called the Hope hotline and I was told I called too late and so a nurse would come the next day. A nurse did show up in the late afternoon and that is the last time a nurse has entered our house in the last 6 days. They are so quick to have you sign their papers in the hospital and they brag about how they offer 24/7 care but its all a lie. Today I called the hotline because my mother has nausea, vomiting, and a fever. I was told that a nurse was already at our house today--NOT TRUE, like I said we have-not seen a nurse in 6 days. They doctor the records and say that they call and do home visits when they don't. I decided to call my mother's social worker thru hope, Adrianne, who is wonderful. She insisted that we would receive a nurse visit tonight--here's hoping. read more

HOPE Hospice has been phenomenal with their care for my father (2013) and mother (2017). The staff is supportive, caring, sweet, gentle, and kind. The facility is well kept, clean, beautiful, warm, inviting, & comfortable. From the support care staff, to the nurses, social worker, and Maintanence crew - everyone goes above and beyond their role to make you feel at ease during this troublesome time. I'm going to preface this review with a back story so you can see a comparison. My grandfather was in the dreaded Cape Coral Hospital for over three weeks. He was taken in by ambulance on a Thursday, was diagnosed with colon cancer the following Saturday, and had surgery the following Monday. Except for the days leading up to the surgery and the two times he was in ICU, he was treated like crap - as was my grandmother. There was barely any communication at all; they actually YELLED at my grandmother one time when they had to change his diaper; they wouldn't have physical therapy come down to try and get him out of his bed until my aunt called from Miami and made threats; he had to wait over TWO HOURS to get his pain medications on several occasions; and on and on it goes. He was NOT treated with dignity and neither was the family. Then he was transferred to the Cape Coral Hope Hospice. IMMEDIATELY we could feel the difference and knew this is EXACTLY where he needed to be. The doctors and nurses not only spent ample time with my grandfather, but they did with my grandmother and all of us, as well. It was as if we had entered a new realm of health care! Grandma was kept 100% up to date on EVERYTHING that was going on with him and that, OF COURSE, helped put her at ease. There were other awesome experiences, too. The staff shared about the death/dying process as well so we would all be prepared for what was to come. They told us amazing stories of people who had passed on in beautiful ways. They, along with the kindest and most compassionate chaplain EVER, took time out of THEIR busy days to make sure we were reassured, in awe of the passage from life to new life, at peace (as much as we could be), and knew that Grandpa would go when he was ready and in a dignified manner. They ensured he was comfortable and wasn't agitated, unlike the hospital. One of the nurses even sat with him and held his hand for awhile. That same nurse teased me about looking exactly like my mother and when I told her I was the favorite grandchild she wrote it on Grandpa's board. That probably sounds stupid, but that small silliness put me at ease and brought small joy to difficult moments. As for the place itself, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The gardens are lovely and you can sit outside in peace and quiet and simply reflect or cry or do whatever your body/mind/emotions need you to do. The inside has about a million very comfortable chairs and the food they have to eat is very good. I think of Hope Hospice as about 35% for the dying and 65% for the living. You know that you're going to lose your loved one, but the atmosphere is one of peace and even....well, I suppose serenity. I want to add this - my grandfather just passed away 10 days ago, so my experiences are still very, very fresh. Therefore, I'm not giving a review that's through rose-tinted glasses. I just thought you should know that. My grandmother REALLY connected with the chaplain there. She loved speaking with him and hearing what he had to say. Grandpa's funeral was in Sarasota and Grandma mentioned in passing that she really wished he could do the funeral ceremony. Well, my aunt called and spoke with him and he said he'd be honored to do so. He drove all the way up to Sarasota and held a beautiful service for my grandfather and brought a TON of comfort to my grandmother. I will never, ever forget that. Hospice is a scary word for people to hear and a lot of times people allow their loved ones to die in a nursing home, in the hospital, or at home instead of hospice because of that fear. If I could recommend just ONE THING, it would be to just visit Hope Hospice one time and talk to the nurses and doctors and others. Explore the grounds. See and feel the peace and dignity that you and your loved one both can have during this terrible time. read more

My father was not recovering in the hospital or rehab, but came to Hope Hospice House and got the rest and gentle loving care he needed. It is beautiful, peaceful and a great place. The rooms are spacious and can accommodate family members sleeping with the resident; each has a screen porch with a view of lovely grounds. Every single nurse, aide, administrator and person I encountered there was pleasant and helpful. They also have a bunch of phenomenal volunteers - generous and supportive in some amazing ways. If your loved one needs some comfort and rest with medical support, I highly recommend it. read more

Hope Hospice cared for my father-in-law for 7 years in home while he slowly faded from COPD. The chaplains and nurses were incredible and became part of our family in many ways. When he finally went into the hospice facility in Cape Coral the genuine care rose to an even greater level. Kind, compassionate, professional and knowledgeable are the people at Hope Hospice. My grandmother recently entered hospice and I flew out to Florida to be with her. As tough as it is to have a relative in hospice, this center is amazing. The nurses are very attentive (one of them knit a quilt for my grandmother) and they are extremely clean and gentle with the patients. I was amazed at how nice the place was and felt comfort that she was in the care of such professional and caring people. read more

My mom was in hospice for 2 weeks until she passed away. First i want to say how caring everyone was. The nurses were great and the nursing aides were so wonderful they kept my mom clean, were very friendly, kind and came in to check on her about every 2 hours. I could not ask for a better caring place for my mom's last days. When she did pass they had the upmost respect for her and my family. When i say everyone was great i mean everyone, including maintenance and the guard at he front door. I would recommend hope hospice to anyone who needs hospice care. My family and I just can't say enough nice things about this place. The clergy came a few times a week and prayed with mom and us also. Thank you to everyone who cared for my mom. The people at the Hospice were so nice to my uncle. They kept him as comfortable as possible, saw immaculately to his care and kept us in the loop. My uncle lost his battle, but the staff treated him with the utmost respect at all time. Hope Hospice is one of the worst agencies I have experienced here in Lee County. When my partner was placed on hospice, their home care people did not show up or showed up late. Their social worker violated ethics and practices. Their administrators did not answer the phone or call back. Their nurses at Cape Coral and Gulf Coast Hospitals spent their time telling us what they could not do rather than collaborating with the medical care staff. The community portion of the agency had poor communication within their teams. If you have to go out of county, they terminate you and refuse to serve you when you return. They were rude on the phone and lacked empathy. Do not have your loved ones die with these people. read more

My partner of 22 years battled cancer for one year. We finally made the decision to get hospice involved, and wow, did they. A nurse was at the house 2 hours later, did an assessment, and arranged for his transport a few hours later. He needed some special attention with his wound care and colostomy issues. The nurses were right there attending to him and taking care of me as well. The doctors listened to our concerns and made adjustments to his medications and comfort. Dr. Gill was especially caring and was there at his passing. The facility was clean and surprisingly wasn't like the hospitals where we had spent so much time. I had promised him I wouldn't let him pass alone. I had to run to the airport to pick up his sister. I expressed my concern to one of his favorite nurses aides, and she offered to sit with him, off duty, until I returned. That's what makes everyone there so exceptional. When he did pass, the staff was so caring, allowing me to stay with him as long as I wished, then offered to call someone to take me home. The follow up bereavement care has been wonderful. There are many special people there. I would recommend Hospice Cape Coral to anyone when it becomes the time to see off a loved one. read more

Hospice was called in by rehab when my aunt was going downhill very fast last week. I had heard many things about how hospice is supportive, how they really focus on the patient and the family. Well, we felt non of that. From the first day, one of the nurses said she would push to get her admitted to the inpatient hospice facility. The next day, the other nurse said that wasn't necessary and that woudl be reserved for dying patient in their last hours. Well, guess what... every report that came back from different nurses each time was that she was actively dying. It woudl have been so nice to have her in that facility where her friend could have spent the night, and where they would have hopefully nurtured the process. Since I am my aunts POA and located in California, they told me they woudl communicate to me frequently. however, through this process, I was rarely communicated with, except when I initiated a call to Hospice. And they seemed to medicate her heavily, telling me she was in pain and they needed to., But when I woudl talk with the rehab nurses, they told me she was medicated for easier breathing. When my aunt finally did die last night, I didn't receive a call from hospice till again I paged them, And then, when I got the call back, the hospice nurse seemed cold, didn't even say, "I'm sorry for your loss," just was administrative. So, unfortunately, whatever support supposedly hospice offered, it was not felt. read more

We couldn't have asked for kinder, more compassionate nursing care for our father. He had been there on 2 occasions. The first time, to get him evaluated and registered into the system and the second time, for his final 2 days. The staff were all caring, attentative and genuinely concerned for his needs as well as ours. I had read 2 reviews that scared the tripe out of me but it turned out that was for the Coral Springs outfit. I have absolutely nothing but high praise for the staff and the facility. It was squeaky clean and the grounds are beautiful. The communication between the outpatient care and the inpatient care facilities was spot on. I can't thank them enough for making this traumatic time just a little more bearable. read more
