Unlike some similar shops, the shopkeeper was happy for us to handle the antiques - even instructing us to take the boxes outside so that we could examine them in a natural light. She also clearly loved all of her products and found choosing between them almost as difficult as us! A good sign, I think. The boxes are not just beautiful objects but they are all in usable condition with working locks etc and consequently make wonderful presents. After all, who wouldn't want a beautiful box to house all of ones beautiful trinkets? However, eager box hunters be warned - this gem of a shop only opens on Wednesday and Saturday. Please don't make the trip only to be disappointed.

When I first saw…read morethis shop I fell in love with it, it has a small selection of antique furniture pieces and many mirrors. It was £95 for an oval shaped body length 1960's mirror. I had already pictured it in my room, when I had finally saved enough to get it I came to the shop, excited and armed with £100. To my surprise it was gone, I was disappointed and begun asking questions. When will you get more? Will you be getting anymore from that era? Do you have anything similar? The lady was more concerned in attending to her T.V set so she could watch countdown, fiddling with the antennae and basically ignoring my questions. She said she did not now, repeated answer to all my queries. The lady is of age so I can't blame her for just wanting to enjoy her show, in a weird way I guess she forms part of the charm of the store. I would go back, in fact I will come back, I am hoping an even better mirror will come along.

When I walked in I was stunned at the lovely things you can buy there and such reasonable prices! There are about 20 traders & stalls here offering antiques and crafts; textiles, art deco jewellery, glass, china, miniatures and so much more. I especially liked 3D greeting cards, depicting miniature worlds produced by Karrie Barron cards. At another stall, they sell some stunning miniature boxes. I especially loved the art deco and Victorian style jewellery - and will go back to buy!! There are some lovely porcelain pieces for avid collectors. It is such a hidden place that you can easily miss it. I was really happy I found this place - it's such a collector's heaven and the prices are so much better than what you would pay in Portobello market or elsewhere in London. Also all the stallholders are so friendly and helpful! This is one of those secret London attractions that you have to discover for yourself and I highly recommend you do! It's amazing!

Art deco designs, 1950s plastic pineapples, Lady Di diamante replica drops, you name it and this shop has it! All with a price tag mind you but if you are looking for a special gift or item that will wow and impress all your friends look no further. You really can spend hours in here, or at least that's what I did. Everything is in a glass case as most of it is delicate and it must be hard stopping people with a five finger discount from snapping up these beauties otherwise. The items are all laid out thematically, so you'll find your scotty dog choker with the houndstooth broaches off course. Head on down if you have some time during the week, that way the whole place isn't over run by tourists and you can look in peace, even better than that, go on a rainy day... Notting Hill becomes a ghost town.

If you love funk, soul, jazz, Latin, Brazilian, African, Hip-Hop, House, electro, sound libraries, comedy, etc., on vinyl, then you must go there. But they price their stock through the roof and anyone with any experience buying vinyl will recognise titles they can pick up for £5-10 elsewhere at £20-30 here. You could then make the argument that at least its all in mint condition and guaranteed first press, for the collector without time to search out these things for cheaper prices, but even this isn't the case. A copy of Ornette Coleman's Free Jazz that they have for an eye-watering £75 is just the orange/green 1974 reissue, barely worth £20-30. Sleeves are often scuffed and worn. If you like the shop, like the people and don't mind paying over the odds by some 50% or more for the privilege then please patronise this establishment. If you have ever bought a record anywhere else in the world, don't bother.

This way you allow yourself the true novelty of emotion when you realize you've found the stuffed owl you never knew you wanted. I quite liked the look of a few of 1950's American diner style kitchen stuff, cocktail shakers and drinks trolleys, that sort of thing but on this occasion I left as I came in. It's all about taste somewhere like this, it's eclectic and nothing will appeal to everyone but pop in, have a look around, something probably will.
