I had a very disappointing experience working with Joel Hooper regarding our company 401(k). We relied on him for financial guidance and guidance for our plan administration support, but were told that our CPA firm was serving as the Third Party Administrator, which ultimately led to major confusion and what appears to have been a significant breakdown in communication between parties.
Nearly two years later, our retirement funds remain frozen due to documentation issues surrounding the 401(k), which has been extremely frustrating and financially disruptive. Throughout this process, I felt the guidance provided was inadequate and lacked the level of oversight and proactive communication I expected from an advisor.
Additionally, the timing of the liquidation and transfer of our funds occurred during a particularly poor trading day, which added to my frustration with the process and left me questioning whether enough consideration was given to execution timing.
Overall, my experience was marked by poor communication, inadequate guidance, and a lack of professionalism during an already stressful situation. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions about responsibilities, documentation, and communication expectations upfront. read more
